Zamalek coach Patrice Carteron believes that Zamalek were the better side during Monday's 1-1 draw with Ahly in the Cairo derby.
The White Knights salvaged a late draw when Ferjani Sassi struck with a superb curler in the 80th minute, cancelling out Ahly's opener through substitute Salah Mohsen seven minutes earlier.

"We were the better side during the game," Carteron told the post-match news conference. "We produced a strong performance against a big team that have an excellent keeper."
"Our performance was better than the previous games and we created a number of goal-scoring chances."

Zamalek remain on top of the table with 45 points, four ahead of Ahly who can pull clear if they win their two matches in hand.
"The competition is very tough this season and we have to work hard during the coming period," French boss Carteron added.
