Study abroad

The Global Professional School provides opportunities for students to add a global experience to their degree through our study abroad and exchange programs.

Whether you’re an Australian student wanting to see the world or an international student keen to experience Australia, a study abroad or exchange opportunity is an enriching and rewarding experience.

Coming to Australia

Students currently studying overseas and wanting to add a global experience to their degree can apply to study with us through the Global Professional School Study Abroad service.

Choose from an exchange program where you can receive credit towards your degree and continue to pay your home institution fees whilst being exempt from Federation’s tuition fees. Or if your institution doesn’t have a formal exchange agreement with us or exchange places are full, you can join a study abroad program and study with us for one or two semesters. On a study abroad program, you pay a set fee to us. In 2022, that fee is AU$9,100 per semester.

Going overseas

Federation staff and students are encouraged to immerse themselves in a different environment and culture through our study abroad and exchange programs. These can be as short as a few weeks on a study tour or be one or two semesters in duration – the choice is yours!

Guided by our academic staff, students may have the opportunity to study abroad on a New Colombo Plan Study Tour. The New Colombo Plan is an Australian Government initiative that supports Australian undergraduate students to participate in semester-based or short-term study, internships, mentorships and research in 40 host locations across the Indo-Pacific region.

Previous study abroad projects include:

  • A wildlife conservation tour to Chitwan, Nepal looking at conservation and protection of wild baby rhinos.
  • A nursing clinical placement at Vaiola Hospital in Nukuálofa, Tonga.
  • Industry tours/visits, cultural activities and interviewing women in business and their legal rights in the Pacific in Apia, Samoa.
  • Intensive course in information technology and observation of Chinese culture at Shaoguan University, Guangdong Province China.

Study abroad programs are a great way for Federation’s Schools to establish partnerships and foster deeper connections with international institutions. A list of exchange partners can be found on our Exchange partners website.
