Trump Rips Into Fox News in Late-Night Twitter Tirade

While President Donald Trump is known for taking shots at the media on Twitter, Fox News has largely been exempt. But during a late-night tirade on Sunday, Trump fired off a series of tweets saying that the news network “is changing fast, but they forgot the people who got them there!”

The president took aim at Fox for recently hiring Democratic political commentator Donna Brazile, a frequent Trump critic. Trump also was critical of Fox’s weekend daytime anchors whom he didn’t mention by name.

“Impossible to believe that @FoxNews has hired @donnabrazile, the person fired by @CNN (after they tried to hide the bad facts, & failed) for giving Crooked Hillary Clinton the questions to a debate, something unimaginable,” he tweeted. “Now she is all over Fox, including Shep Smith, by far…their lowest rated show. Watch the @FoxNews weekend daytime anchors, who are terrible, go after her big time. That’s what they want – but it sure is not what the audience wants!”

For the past three years, Trump has gone after Brazile, the former interim chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and CNN commentator, after WikiLeaks revealed in hacked emails showing she had tipped off Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign with likely questions during CNN debates and town hall gatherings.

Brazile resigned from her CNN post less than two weeks before Trump’s presidential election victory. Brazile has apparently yet to respond to Trump’s tweets on Twitter. In March, Brazile said in an opinion piece she probably won’t always agree with her fellow Fox News commentators, but “I will listen” to them.

“Will I question them if they make assertions about hard-working Americans, low-income people, and issues like climate change that I disagree with? Absolutely. But I will do so with civility and respect,” Brazile said. “I will also freely admit the weaknesses in liberal arguments and the strength in conservative positions. And I welcome the opportunity to challenge many of the false assumptions about progressives, especially those newly elected to Congress.”

Two weeks ago Trump tweeted at Fox News and its chief political anchor Bret Baier for reporting on a poll that found 50% of Americans favor impeaching or removing from office. “.@FoxNews Polls are always bad for me. They were against Crooked Hillary also,” he said. “Something weird going on at Fox.”

Earlier Sunday, Trump had attacked his usual media targets, CNN, MSNBC, NBC, and The New York Times.

“Watching @FoxNews weekend anchors is worse than watching low ratings Fake News @CNN, or Lyin’ Brian Williams (remember when he totally fabricated a War Story trying to make himself into a hero, & got fired. A very dishonest journalist!) and the crew of degenerate…,” Trump tweeted.
