Guillaume Pousaz has drawn plenty of media attention recently for his unconventional career path and jet-setting lifestyle, but the style is undoubtedly backed by substance given the recent successes of his online payments startup. London-based Checkout.com, which he founded in 2012, has been a beneficiary of the e-commerce boom, having attained a valuation of $5.5 billion on the back of its most recent funding round this summer. While that’s still some way behind the massive valuations of larger payment rivals like Stripe and Adyen, the Swiss-born Pousaz has built a fast-growing firm that’s capitalizing on the ongoing digital payments revolution.
