As president of the Appeal, a news organization that publishes stories about the criminal justice system, Harvard Law School graduate Josie Duffy Rice has established herself as a leading expert on prosecutorial misconduct and the prison complex. And while her area of expertise is now at the forefront of the national conversation, when she began reporting on her beat at Daily Kos in 2015, she was one of the only national reporters focused on the topic.

Before turning to writing, Rice spent a decade working toward reform in criminal justice and partnered with organizations like the Bronx Defenders, the Advancement Project, the Center for Court Innovation, the Center for Popular Democracy, and the Justice Collaborative.
