    Head of Flexport.org
Flexport.org is the humanitarian and sustainability arm of Flexport, a startup unicorn that’s bringing supply-chain management and logistics into the 21st century with a focus on automation and cloud services. The chaos caused by this year's pandemic thrust logistics into the foreground, and Schöneberg, formerly of German logistics group DB Schenker, rose to the occasion. Schöneberg entered the logistics realm after working in aid roles in the developing world, and seeing the potential impact of logistics to help people. After several years in business strategy roles at Flexport, Schöneberg pitched and built Flexport.org to share cutting-edge logistics expertise with aid agencies, nonprofits, and donors—often pro bono. In 2019, Flexport.org shipped a reported 4.7 million pounds of aid goods around the world, while helping reduce aid waste and carbon output. Then came COVID-19. Since January of this year, Flexport.org has played an important role in delivering emergency equipment to help respond to the pandemic. That has included more than 228 million pieces of protective equipment, respirators, and other supplies to medical facilities across the U.S., and the world. Flexport.org has also raised more than $8.2 million through its Frontline Responders Fund to help ship supplies to frontline workers, and even delivered more than 260,000 meals to those in need.
