Camden named board diversity a key priority back in 2009, which has translated into a board that’s one of the most inclusive in commercial real estate today—50% BIPOC and 30% female. When the company began expanding its DEI structure in 2020, it formed an advisory council that’s currently 53% female and 59% people of color.

As a big player in Texas’s regional commercial real estate scene, Camden strives to bring positive change to Houston: Last spring, Camden broke ground on a new expansion to the Houston Area Women’s Center, which annually houses thousands of women, children, and families escaping sexual assault, domestic violence, and sex trafficking.

Camden has also built 10 new properties providing 1,521 homes for New Hope Housing, an organization offering affordable housing to at-risk individuals such as those with physical or cognitive challenges, seniors, veterans, and the formerly homeless. Camden at present has three New Hope properties under construction for an additional 417 homes, and three more in the pipeline. Last year, Camden matched all donations to New Hope up to $30,000.
