Enable use of privately shared files in Microsoft OneDrive in LMS assignments #1189
klemay opened this issue on Mar 9, 2021 · 1 comment
As an instructor, I want to keep my OneDrive and Sharepoint files private while I share then with students as assignments, so that I comply with my institution's rules for distribution and duplication copyrights.
Constraints
- Comply with licensing/copyrights for distribution (no public sharing)
- Comply with licensing/copyrights for duplication (no hosting)
Flow
🤷

Talking with a school in Quebec, their stringent rules (which they felt would be similar in all schools in QC and BC) won't allow them to host PDFs using a method where the sharing settings are changed to "everyone with a link can view". This is true for copyrighted journal articles and for student work they want to use in the LMS app.
This is currently how our GDrive integration works, but Robert thought we might be able to investigate and see if it's possible to create integrations that
don't change sharing settings (
Slack thread).
As part of the investigation of a OneDrive integration, we should see if it's possible to get PDFs from OneDrive without changing the sharing settings.
