Day-Wilson Selected Duke PNC Achievers Student-Athlete of the Week

DURHAM - Women's basketball freshman Shayeann Day-Wilson has been named Duke's PNC Achiever's Student-Athlete of the Week after helping lead Duke to a victory over No. 9 Iowa in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge Friday, as well as a road win against Penn on Sunday afternoon.

In the Iowa contest, Day-Wilson scored a team-high 19 points to go along with four rebounds, four assists and four steals. She hit 4-of-7 treys and 6-of-11 field goals. She is one of only four freshmen nationally to register 19 points, four rebounds, four assists and four steals in a game this year.

At Penn on Sunday, Day-Wilson once again led the offensive charge for the Blue Devils. She had 14 points and continued her hot streak hitting 4-of-6 treys, while dishing three assists and grabbing three rebounds in 25 minutes.

Over the course of the two games, the Toronto, Ontario native averaged 16.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2.5 steals in two wins for Duke. She also hit 8-of-13 three-pointers for a 61.5 percentage.

The Blue Devils will be off for exam break, before hosting No. 1 South Carolina on Wednesday, Dec. 15 at 7 p.m., live on ACC Network.
