On 21st April 2022, four armed men with masks attacked and robbed Mr. Mutasim Mukhtar Mohammed (driving a tractor) together with his assistant. They robbed them of their money and smart phones. This incident was near Umbrembeta. The two victims reported the case to police at Umbrembeta but, police did not respond.
On 21st April 2022, Mr. Mutasim Mukhtar Mohammed and his assistant were driving the farm tractor from El-Rahad to Umbrembeta. They were subsequently obstructed by the attackers at Malbak seasonal river (approximately 17 km north Umbrembeta). The attackers were four armed and masked men. They robbed them of their two smart phones and money (860000 SDG = about $1600 USD). Thereafter, the thieves/ attackers disappeared.
The two victims of robbery continued their journey up to Umbrembeta where they reported the case to police but, police did not respond.
Mr. Mutasim Mukhtar Mohammed (45 years old) is a farmer and resident of Umbrembeta town. Umbrembeta is a town in Abu-Kershola locality of South Kordufan State/ Nuba Mountains. El-Rahad is the nearest town in North Kordufan State and it’s about 100 km north Umbrembeta.
HUDO Centre is very concerned about the security situation and the safety of civilians in conflict areas and calls upon;
  • Police in South Kordufan State/ Nuba Mountains to execute their duties responsibly and to immediately investigate this case.
  • The prosecutor in South Kordufan/ Nuba Mountains to ensure that there is rule of law.
  • The security committee in South Kordufan state to dissolve and disarm militias and ensure the safety of civilians.
