Warn user to sign in when saving to favorites
Primo (new UI) does not alert the user to sign in in order to save favorites. I suggest that when a user who has not logged in clicks the pushpin icon to save an item to Favorites, a modal appear to let them know they must sign in to save favorites, and give them an opportunity to do so.
Hi,
This was done and released in November 2022 release.
Best regards,
Yael.

Warning comes with November 2022 release, already available in the sandboxes.

Orbiscascade seems to have solved this for Primo VE, maybe collaborate with them?

I just learned via the mailing list that this is a parity issue which has been reported 2017:
"There was a warning message in My Favourites in Classic UI (BO only), but it is missing in New UI (BO & VE)." / SvG

Hi Nili
Under review for 2 years now – any updates? -

We also received complaints from our user too.

Any updates on this functionality? we continue to have a bad user experience with the lack of warning with pinning that they are not logged in. It would be nice to have this functionality built in rather than having to come up with custom solutions.

Our users are unhappy when they think they've permanently saved records, only to discover that, because they weren't signed in, their pinned items are gone. It's a frustration for them and poor user experience.

In Primo VE you can find the same issue. So maybe you could check if this option can be transfered to VE as well.
Thanks in advance. -

Please make sure that the solution is also compliant with web accessibility standards. Thank you.

Our library conducted a formal usability study with the Primo New UI in Fall 2017 and we found that user's figured out how to pin items but they didn't realize that they wouldn't be able to get back to their pinned items later because they didn't sign in.
We would like one of the following enhancements:
1. When user tries to pin first item in a session where they are not signed in, a notification pops up telling the user that their pinned item will not be saved to their account unless they sign in, and provide a sign-in button on this notification. Still allow the user to pin items even though not logged in.
2. When user tries to pin first item in a session where they are not signed in, the item is not pinned until the user signs in a pop-up sign-in box. If they hit cancel (or something like that) and do not sign in, then the item will not be pinned.
