Frequently Asked Questions about Email Notification

How do I sign up for email notification?
If you don't have a library card, sign up at your local library.

If you already have a library card, login to My Account and go to 'Modify Personal Information' to sign up for email, phone notification or postal mail, or to update or delete your email address.

Or simply contact your local library.

Will I get "junk" email or "spam" if I sign up for this service?
No, all patron information is private and confidential. We do not release any patron information without an appropriate legal court document.

When will I receive my email notices?

Notice Type When is the notice generated?
Request Pickup Notice A request pickup notice is generated the morning after an item arrives at the library where the item is to be picked up.
Overdue Notices
First Overdue Notice The first overdue notice will be generated approximately a week or 2 weeks after the item becomes overdue, depending on the type of material, and the local library lending policy.
Second Overdue Notice The second overdue notice will be generated approximately 2 weeks after the first overdue notice, or 3 or 4 weeks from the overdue date.
  Bill

All bills for overdue items will be generated approximately 6 weeks from the overdue date.
All bills are printed

The Email notices are generated daily, and are automatically sent out early each morning Sunday through Saturday.

Why do I sometimes still receive notices in the U.S. mail?
It is still our practice to send final bills for lost or long overdue items in the U.S. Mail so that you have a written record for your files. Also, if we try to reach you by email and it bounces, our system will generate a mail notice.

What if my email address changes?
If you need to edit or delete your email address, login to My Account and update or delete your email address under 'Modify Personal Information'.

Or simply contact your local library.

What if my mailbox is full or the library notice bounces, or my email address changes, but I did not notify my library?
If a notice cannot be delivered via email, your email address will be removed from your library record to avoid further problems. If you do not read your email frequently, U.S. mail or automated telephone notification may be a better option.

What if I wish to discontinue email notification?
Login to My Account and click on 'Modify Personal Information' to remove your email address, or contact your local library for other notification options.

What if I want to cancel a request about which I'm notified?
To cancel a request at any time, please contact your local library.

What about confidentiality and security?
Your email address will not be used for any other purpose than sending Library communications. We do not release any patron information without an appropriate legal court document. However, if you provide an email account that you share with someone else, please be aware that email notices will list the titles of requested or overdue items.

What will my email notices look like?
All library email notices will show in your Inbox from 'Library1 Notice' or library1@iiisy1.einetwork.net. The subject line will read 'Library Notice.'

Each request pickup notice will list your name, the title of the item(s) to pick up and at which branch the item(s) are waiting.

Each overdue notice will list your name, the title of the item(s) that are overdue, and whether it is a first or second notice.

If you need more information about your account, login to My Account online anytime or call our Telephone Renewal system 24 hours a day at 412-622-1895.

What if my email account screens for bulk mail or junk mail?
If your email account screens for bulk mail or junk mail it may screen out Library Notices as well. You'll want to allow delivery of messages from library1@iiisy1.einetwork.net to your Inbox.

If you are an AOL member, please ensure that you have your email controls set to allow email from library1@iiisy1.einetwork.net. To check that, go to 'Keyword: MAIL CONTROLS' and verify that you have not selected "Allow mail only from AOL members" nor "Allow mail only from People I Know". If you are using a Custom List, include library1@iiisy1.einetwork.net in the "Allow only" list.
