Food Bowl Dinner Series with Outstanding in the Field.
L.A. Times Food Bowl, presented by City National Bank, returns this October. We are teaming up with Outstanding in the Field to bring you a series of extraordinary dinner events in iconic locations across Los Angeles and Orange County. Each unique experience will include a multi-course meal from some of L.A.’s best chefs while bringing light to important sustainability and environmental topics.

CELEBRATION OF LA DINNER AT PARAMOUNT PICTURES STUDIOS

The Paramount Pictures Studios backlot has been the setting of dozens of iconic films and TV shows. This October a different scene will be set. Our stellar cast of chefs will fire up a collaborative menu featuring different styles and cuisines as part of a celebration of L.A.’s vibrant culinary landscape. Enjoy an exciting meal including Mexican cuisine from chef Wes Avila (Angry Egret Dinette, Founder of Guerrilla Tacos), BBQ from Burt Bakman (Slab BBQ), sustainable seafood from Brian Bornemann (Crudo e Nudo), Korean from Mina Park and Kwang Uh (Shiku, Baroo), Chinese from Bin Wang (Chengdu Impression), Thai from Jazz Singsanong (Jitlada), and dessert from Valerie Gordon (Valerie Confections). The Ecology Center, a 28-acre farming oasis in the heart of San Juan Capistrano, is the perfect place to cook up an inspired meal featuring glorious organic produce from Evan Mark’s visionary farm operation. For this meal chef John Cleveland of L.A.’s Post & Beam will collaborate with chef Eric Bost, formerly of L.A.'s shuttered Auburn, and now at Jeune et Jolie and Campfire restaurants in Carlsbad. The meal will be inspired by the ingredients sourced directly from the farm. This dining experience is sure to be etched in your memory. OUTSTANDING IN THE FIELD FILM SCREENING
MAN IN THE FIELD L.A. FILM PREMIERE

SEPULVEDA DAM, LOS ANGELES
Join us for the L.A. premiere of the documentary film Man in the Field profiling the life of Outstanding in the Field founder Jim Denevan. Setting the table at the iconic Sepulveda Dam, a celebrated L.A. chef will cook up a two-course meal prior to the screening featuring peak-season produce from local farms. Enjoy an art and dance performance in collaboration with Jacob Jonas Dance Company prior to the film, and a panel discussion featuring Jim Denevan and filmmaker Patrick Trefz in conversation with the chef and farmer following the screening.

POSTPONED: HUNTINGTON BEACH PIER SUSTAINABLE SEAFOOD DINNER
Due to the heartbreaking ecological disaster occurring in Huntington Beach, we have been forced to postpone this event. We don’t currently have a new confirmed date set, but we will be sure to update you when we do. When this event is finally able to take place, we will be donating a portion of the proceeds for the event to the Wetland and Wildlife Care Center of Orange County.
The iconic Huntington Beach Pier is one of the longest piers on the West Coast and also one of the most photogenic scenes in Orange County. Experience an epic meal featuring sustainably caught seafood plucked from the water beneath you that morning. Chef Andrew Gruel of Slapfish, Craig Brady of Haven Craft Kitchen, and Brian Bornemann from Crudo e Nudo in Santa Monica will join us on the pier bringing a seafood-focused menu to celebrate the day’s catch in all its glory. Together, they’ll cook up an unforgettable meal paired with local beer from different Surf City brewers and plenty of California wine. OUTSTANDING IN THE FIELD DINNER EVENT
WATTLES FARM DINNER: CELEBRATING WOMEN IN THE INDUSTRY

Celebrate women in food and farming with some of L.A.’s most impressive female chefs cooking it up at Hollywood’s hidden gem: the Wattles Farm Community Garden. The collaborative menu will bring chef Teresa Montaño of Otoño and Margarita Kallas-Lee of Scratch Restaurants together using local produce and meats from Toby Leaman of host Wattles Farm and guest purveyor Meredith Bell of Autonomy Farms.
