Mavs Open Press offers no-cost services for scholars who wish to publish a new open-access journal or for those who would like to convert an existing print journal that has traditional copyright.
We can also help you publish your book in open access, digital format, whether it's a scholarly monograph discussing high-level research, an open educational resource, or a less formal work that focuses on teaching practice or other topics.
When working with a managing editor and editorial board on converting an existing journal to open access or creating a new open-access journal, we provide technical support through the submission, peer-review, and final publication process using Open Journal Systems (OJS) software.
Our journal publishing services include:
Obtaining an ISSN for the journal and DOIs for articles
Assisting with all aspects of technical setup and production of each issue, including in some cases layout and copyediting*
Providing a publishing platform that simplifies the peer-review process and includes options for blind or double-blind review
Hosting open-access digital content on a secure server with frequent backups and built-in redundancies
Consulting on copyright questions
Maximizing discoverability of your journal through search-engine optimization and robust metadata
Preserving and archiving the digital content in perpetuity.
Mavs Open Press offers publishing services for new and remixed open educational resources (OER) authored by UTA faculty and students. OER from our collection are offered in various digital formats free of charge. Learn more about OER services.
We support open access to scholarship, new creations of peer-reviewed publishing, preservation of scholarly information, and more.
