The CRAAP test is a starting point for evaluating online information.

Each of the five criteria in the table below (currency, relevancy, accuracy, authority, and purpose) can be applied to “test” or think critically about information to determine if online sources should be used for academic assignments (i.e., your own research).

Note: Answers to CRAAP test questions may not always be found (i.e., the information may not be available). If so, decide on a case-by-case basis if a lack of answers means that a source passes or fails the CRAAP test.
