Library Takeout
Stacks in all buildings will be closed to non-library staff, including faculty and students. Duke Libraries Takeout allows faculty, staff, and students to pick up books and other materials with minimal contact. Items can be requested from Perkins & Bostock Libraries, Lilly Library, Music Library, and the Library Service Center. You can request materials to be picked up from Perkins & Bostock, Lilly, or Music, whichever location is most convenient for you. Materials do not have to be picked up from the library where they are shelved. Books can be returned to any of these libraries; they do not need to be returned to the library where they were picked up.
Scan and Deliver
Current faculty, students, and staff are eligible for our limited scan and deliver service. Initiate by clicking the green "Request" button for an item in the library catalog. Eligible users will see an option for Scan and Deliver as they follow through the process. We may be able to get an electronic copy of a part of the requested work and send it, though we cannot guarantee that we will be successful.
Returning Materials
On Campus
Books can be returned at Perkins & Bostock, Lilly, or Music. They do not need to be returned to the library where they were picked up. You can return library materials either to the drop slot or during a pick-up appointment.
Off Campus in Durham
You can also drop off your materials in a box at Duke’s off-site shipping and receiving facility at 100 Golden Drive, Durham, NC, 27705 . Please note the following for drop off at this location:
Drop off at this facility is limited to the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m, Monday through Friday.
Park in the rear parking lot and enter through the warehouse. A bin is set up for book collection by the warehouse.
Place your materials in a box clearly labeled with Perkins Library, Attn: Access and Delivery Services .
Please practice social distancing, especially as you encounter Duke staff working at this facility.
From Out of Town
If you are out of town, you can ship books to:
Perkins Library
411 Chapel Drive
Durham, NC 27708
Attn: Access and Delivery Services
Please obtain a tracking number for your package when shipping it to Durham. For safety reasons there will be at least a 48 hour delay between the time materials are returned and when they are checked in and cleared from your account, but they will be held securely during the interval.

Reserves
Due to safety issues, there will be no physical reserves for Spring 2021. We will try to find electronic versions of resources.
Faculty can consult with our staff on access to publisher resources or alternatives: perkins-reserves@duke.edu
For film reserves requests, contact lilly-requests@duke.edu
Interlibrary Loan
Although Interlibrary Loan is available, it will take longer than normal to locate and process requested titles due to COVID-19, and some titles may not be available for physical borrowing during the COVID-19 pandemic. Before requesting through Interlibrary Loan, search the catalog for Books & Media or Articles or search the TRLN shared catalog. If your title is not available, then you can request it through Interlibrary Loan. After you place your request, Library staff will process your request through the service that is most likely to fulfill it.
Note: Some standard borrowing policies may be superseded while we operate under COVID-19 protocols.
