Off-Campus Access to E-Resources
Duke students, faculty and staff and affiliates with a Duke NetID have off-campus access to many databases and e-journals. Patrons can use one of the following methods.
Access using your NetID
Run a search using the main search box on the Duke University Libraries homepage. See below for instructions specific to the type of resource you are trying to access.
Journal articles - Click the title or “Full Text Online" or "View Article PDF" links and you will be prompted to log in using your Duke NetID to view in full text.
eBooks -  Click the “View Online” button and you will be prompted to log in using your Duke NetID
Online Journals or Research Databases - Browse or search Online Journal Titles and Research Databases. You will be prompted to log in using your NetID after clicking journal or database titles.
Note:  Some of Duke's electronic resources, including the Bloomberg Terminal and others restricted by license agreements, cannot be accessed from off-campus.
Access via the Library Access Button
Install our Library Access Button to automatically get full access to eBooks, online articles and databases through the libraries' server without first searching for resources on the libraries' website.
Download the LibKey Nomad browser extension for Chrome, and instantly access online journals and articles available Open Access or through Duke Libraries. Learn more about this handy plugin
Access via Duke's VPN
Connect via Duke's VPN to access resources as if you were on campus. A virtual private network (VPN) allows you to create a secure connection from your computer to Duke over a public network while working remotely.
Note: Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) is required when using VPN.
When logging in, click on the "Group" dropdown menu, and select "Library Resources Only."
Sponsoring for Library Access
Sponsored access to library resources may be requested for individuals who are not Duke faculty, staff, or students and would not receive access through normal processes.
