During the first nine months of the year the main buyers of air conditioning equipment in Central America were Costa Rica and Panama, with $ 30 million and $ 24 million in order, followed by Honduras, with $ 23 million, El Salvador, with $ 14 million, Guatemala, with $ 12 million and Nicaragua, with $ 8 million.
In the case of the year-on-year variation of purchases, for the period in question Nicaragua recorded a 16% increase, followed by El Salvador with 9% and Costa Rica with 2%. Honduras reported a 16% drop in imports
, Guatemala reported a 32% drop and Panama's purchases decreased 46%.Variation in Regional Imports
Between January and September 2019 and the same period in 2020, the value of imports fell by 20%, from $138 million to $110 million.
In contrast to the general behavior of imports, for the periods in question, purchases from China increased from $55.7 million to $56.1 million.Central America's Main Market Suppliers
During the first nine months of 2020, 51% of the value imported from Central America came from China, 22% from the USA, 3% from South Korea, 3% from Mexico and 2% from Thailand.
China is the country of origin of Central American imports that has grown the most for the period under analysis in recent years, since in 2012 it accounted for 22% of the total value purchased and in 2020 it rose to 51%.
This analysis was performed considering machines and devices for air conditioning suitable for modifying temperatures and humidifies adjustable to walls, windows, floors or ceilings, vehicles, and the respective parts of the equipment.
