Good Year for Nicaraguan Textiles Companies

Exports up to August totaled $870 million, 35% more than in the same period in 2010.
During the same period the increase in volume was 22%.

Projections for this year, according to the Nicaraguan Association of Textile and Apparel Companies (ANITEC in Spanish) are that it will close with an increase in exports of between 20% and 30% compared to 2010.

Data from ANITEC shows that 2011 is shaping up to be the best year for this sector.

Up until August ANITEC recorded its affiliated companies had exported the equivalent of about 279.7 million square meters in apparel, amounting to $870.4 million worth.

This represents a 21.9 percent growth in volume and 34.9 percent in value in relation to 2010, and has been maintained throughout the year.

Previously, 2010 had been the best year for exports for manufacturing companies operating in the country under the free zone regime.

Nicaraguan Textile Exports Recover

In January, textile exports under free zone regime grew by 26.3% in value compared to January 2010.
According to information from the Nicaraguan Association of Textiles and Apparel (Anitec) during the same month last year the increase in volume was 25%, totaling 25.6 million square meters (unit of measurement for clothing), figure which even exceeds the January 2007 exports (21.2 million square meters) before the financial crisis.
Record Exports for Nicaraguan Textile Industry

In 2010, Nicaraguan textile companies operating from free zones shipped a record figure of $1,018 million.
According to Anitec, the association which represents these companies, the figure implies a 14% increase when compared to 2009 and a 8% increase if measured up against 2008 (formerly considered the best year ever).
Nicaraguan Textile Exports Up

Up to September, exports reported an increase of 10.8% over the same period in 2009.
According to the Nicaraguan Association of Textiles and Apparel (Anitec), foreign sales until September 2010 totaled $ 733.74 million.
Slight Improvement for Nicaragua Textile Exports

In the first quarter of 2010 the country exported 11.75% more textile goods than in the same period of 2009.
Data from the Nicaraguan Textile and Apparel Industry Association (Anitec) shows that $197.4 million were exported in the first three months of 2009, increasing to $220.6 million in 2010.
