Exports up to August totaled $870 million, 35% more than in the same period in 2010.
During the same period the increase in volume was 22%.
Projections for this year, according to the Nicaraguan Association
and Apparel Companies (ANITEC in Spanish) are that it will close with an increase in exports of between 20% and 30% compared to 2010.
Data from ANITEC shows that 2011 is shaping up to be the best year for this sector.
Up until August ANITEC recorded its affiliated companies had exported the equivalent of about 279.7 million square meters in apparel, amounting to $870.4 million worth.
This represents a 21.9 percent growth in volume and 34.9 percent in value in relation to 2010, and has been maintained throughout the year.
Previously, 2010 had been the best year for exports for manufacturing companies operating in the country under the free zone regime.
