The reported monthly income of $415.3 million is the highest in the country's history.
According to the Banco de Guatemala
(Banguat) it represents an increase of 16% compared to the same month in 2010.
"This is the second time the income remittance has exceeds $400 million in one month, the first time it happened was in July 2008 when the Banguat recorded $409.6 million.", explained an article in Elperiodico.com.gt
In the first five months of this year, 2011, remittance income totaled $1,758 million, 10.4% higher than in the same period in 2010.
