Costa Rica, Main BuyerDuring the first six months of the year, the main importer of
laptops and
tablets in Central America was Costa Rica with $203.2 million, followed by Guatemala with $169.3 million, El Salvador with $119.7 million, Panama with $79.4 million, Honduras with $57.4 million and Nicaragua with $21.7 million.
Regional Business RisingBetween the second quarter of 2020 and the same period of 2021, the value imported into the region rose 101.06%, increasing from $216 million to $434.3 million.
For the periods in question, imports from China increased 181%, from $37 million to $58 million.
Variation of ImportsThe variations of the second quarter of 2020 regarding 2021, presented increases in Salvadoran companies 435%, Honduran companies 194%, Guatemalan companies 128%, Panamanian companies 114%, Nicaraguan companies 98% and Costa Rican companies 6%.
China and the US, Main SuppliersFor the second quarter of 2021, the main importer was China with 58%, followed by the U.S. with 33%, Vietnam 0.45% and Mexico 0.22%.
