Between the second quarter of 2020 and 2021, trade in paints
between Central American countries recorded an increase of 76.1%, rising from $43.3 million to $76.3 million.Costa Rica, Main Supplier
During 2020, the main exporter of paints and varnishes in Central America continued to be Costa Rica with $31 million, followed by El Salvador with $22.7 million, Guatemala with $18 million, Nicaragua with $2.2 million, Panama with $2.1 million and Honduras with $200 thousand.
When analyzing the destination of sales, the figures show that 24.64.8% of total exports were purchased by Honduran companies, 21.36% by Guatemalans, 16.45% by Nicaraguans, 15.67% by Panamanians, 9.27% by Salvadorans and 4.64% by Costa Ricans.Honduras is the Main Intraregional Importer
For the second quarter of 2021 Honduras was the main buyer of paints and varnishes from the other Central America
n countries, importing $18.8 million, followed by Guatemala with $16.3 million, Panama with $12 million, Nicaragua with $12.5 million, El Salvador with $7.1 million and Costa Rica with $3.5 million.
