In Guatemala, the builders' union and the government signed an agreement to work on simplifying and reducing procedures required to obtain a construction license.
The Guatemalan Chamber of Construction (CGC) and the Ministry of Economy (Mineco), have signed an agreement for institutions working in the process of issuing licenses, to work together in order to reduce the existing bureaucracy.

Luis Castellanos, of the Board of Directors of the CGC and president of the Guatemalan Association of Construction Contractors, explained to Dca.gob.gt that " ... 'Among the objectives of the agreement is to promote transparency, help solve a problem that impacts economic activity and establish a roadmap, so that in the short term this process is streamlined.'"

For his part, Acisclo Valladares explained that " ... the goal is to reduce the process to issue a license from one year to 60 days, which would reactivate work in the construction sector."
