From January to June 2020, 57 environmental impact studies were presented for the construction of commercial buildings in Central American countries, and most of them are concentrated in Costa Rica and El Salvador.
The interactive platform "Construction in Central America", of the Trade Intelligence Unit of CentralAmericaData, includes an updated list of public and private construction projects that present environmental impact studies (EIS) to the respective institutions in each country.
Costa Rica is the country in the region that during the first semester of the year concentrated the largest investment, with approximately $70 million in construction projects of buildings for commercial use, corresponding to 40 EIAs.
This was followed by El Salvador, where three EIAs were submitted, which together total an investment of approximately $32 million. The projects include the construction of a mixed-use complex that will house a commercial area.
In Guatemala, three studies were presented for work on different types of commercial projects, which together total an approximate investment of $14 million. In the case of Panama, 11 projects were presented, which in total add up to an estimated investment of nearly $10 million.
CentralAmericaData has information on the construction projects planned in all Central American countries, with details such as estimated investment, project times and phases, inputs and equipment that will be required during and after construction, water treatment, parking structure, among others.
