Vehicles: Which Brands Control the Market?

During the first months of 2021, 20% of the automobile-type vehicles circulating on the streets of Central American countries were Honda, Mazda, Chevrolet and Ford brands, while of the total number of light-duty vehicles, Isuzu, Hyundai and Hino accounted for 10%.
The report "Vehicle fleet in Central America", from CentralAmericaData's Business Intelligence area, gathers the most updated information on the automotive market in Central American countries.

Regional Analysis by Type and Brand
The interactive data details that in the case of bus type vehicles, Blue Bird, International and Mercedes Benz, account for 34% of the total in Central America. Scania, Volvo and Marco Polo account for around 4%.

When reviewing the figures for automobile type units, the interactive platform details that at the beginning of this year it was estimated that 18% of the vehicles in circulation are of the Volkswagen, Mitsubishi, Kia and Suzuki brands. Mercedes Benz, BMW and Peugeot account for 4% of the total.

Regarding the fleet of vehicles classified as luxury vans, the report explains that Chevrolet, Jeep and Toyota account for 12% of the total in Central America. Hummer, Lexus, BMW, Land Rover and Volvo account for around 4%.

When analyzing the global figures, it is estimated that 45% of the vehicles circulating in the region were automobiles, 17% were light-duty vehicles, 5% were heavy-duty vehicles and 3% were buses.
