July 2017 edit

Hello, I'm Kunlunpenglai. I was trying to link the page "https://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E8%88%AC%E9%81%AE%E7%BE%85" to "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panchala", not "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panchala_Kingdom". Thank you! Kunlunpenglai (talk) 15:04, 1 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Kunlunpenglai: OK, I tried to do that for you. Please take a look at the items Panchala Kingdom (Q15948523) and Panchala (Q558603) to check whether it is right now. I am sorry for the warning template, but your edits seemed a little suspicious as you were removing a valid sitelink from Panchala Kingdom (Q15948523). I have removed the template for now as you have been apparently acting in a good faith. Thanks for letting me know and again - welcome to Wikidata. Regards, --Sintakso (talk) 15:14, 1 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Sintakso: Thanks, I am sorry for that awkward edit... Kunlunpenglai (talk) 15:23, 1 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Kunlunpenglai: I was happy to help. Should you have any other questions or problems just let me know. Regards, --Sintakso (talk) 15:31, 1 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

stated in: WikiSkripta edit

Hi Sintakso, I noticed you have made many helpful edits on medical related items. For example: https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Q2845432&type=revision&diff=525538558&oldid=524137771. I see that most are stated in WikiSkripta. It would be great if you could give a reference pointing directly to the data in WikiSkripta (like this) or even better to pull out the references that are in WikiSkripta (example). This would be very useful to others so they could verify the information and filter statements based on which sources they trust. Also, I'm wondering where the data in WikiSkripta came from? There is no English description on the site and I don't read Czech or Slovak! Thanks! Gstupp (talk) 23:59, 7 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Gstupp: Hello, thank you for your advise. I will try to link to the original sources in the future and maybe check my past edits and change the references there too. Unfortunately not all data in WikiSkripta is sourced and some references point to publications which are not available online (so I am unable to check whether the publication really does contain the information). As for linking to the articles in WikiSkripta - would it be sufficient to add value for WikiSkripta article ID (P3471) to the whole item? This seems to be much easier than adding it to the references while it still allows users to find the corresponding article.
WikiSkripta is a collaborative project mostly edited by medical students and teachers working on Czech (and Slovak) universities. You can find more information on the English version of the project - WikiLectures. --Sintakso (talk) 08:05, 8 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
P. S. I was wondering if there is any property for vector (Q107994) in Wikidata. I wasn't able to find any (and the item linked doesn't have Wikidata property (P1687) set).
Great! Yes, I think adding a value for WikiSkripta article ID (P3471) is sufficient (if a reference does not exist). For Vector, there exists disease transmission process (P1060), but its not really well structured right now. WS ID edit

Wesalius (talk) 15:02, 3 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Wesalius: Zdravím, s WikiSkripty příliš spřízněný nejsem - mám tam prakticky nevyužívaný uživatelský účet a přenášel jsem z nich do Wikidat některé údaje (viz příspěvek výše). V případě zájmu Ti mohu zaslat i zdrojové kódy skriptů (i když upozorňuji, že to vzhledem k mým poměrně malým programátorským zkušenostem nebude nic moc hezkého).
Každopádně až to půjde, budeme nachystaní. Chystám se brzy založit nějakou iniciativu/zopakovat RfC, která by vedla k možnosti využít dat z wd i mimo WMF wikiny. Pozdravuji. Wesalius (talk) 05:01, 4 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Wesalius: Všechny stránky, u kterých můj skript nějakou položku našel, jsem už propojil. Zbytek asi bude nutné z většiny udělat ručně. Možná by k tomu bylo možné využít mix'n'match. Pokud by do něj byla importována potřebná data, byla by koordinace propojování výrazně jednodušší. Snad by se k tomu dala využít ta tabulka? --Sintakso (talk) 20:29, 8 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
Určitě by se využít dala, musím z ní nějak odfiltrovat ty propojené, až vytvořím mixnmatch katalog, dám vědět. Děkuji zatím za spolupráci! Wesalius (talk) 06:57, 13 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Tirpitz edit

The danish wikipedia article is about both the bunker and the museum. --Hjart (talk) 11:26, 8 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Hjart: Thanks for noting that, I didn't sufficiently check the entire dawiki article. However, I still think it is better to use two different items. The museum seems sufficiently separated to merit a distinct item (it contains expositions that are not related to the bunker or war in any way). I would suggest attaching the dawiki article to Q66310617 for now and changing this after a distinct article is created (the "uddybende" template seems to suggest this might happen in the future). --Sintakso (talk) 11:35, 8 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
Also commons:Category:Tirpitz bunker holds media more related to the current use of the bunker as a museum, so I think you can't really separate the 2 in a meaningfull way. --Hjart (talk) 11:38, 8 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Hjart: I originally intended on splitting the Commons category as well (putting the Tirpitz bunker category in the newly created "Tirpitz museum (Denmark)" category) and dividing the files accordingly (pictures of the modern museum would go to "Tirpitz museum (Denmark)" while pictures of the bunker itself would be placed to Tirpitz bunker). I believe that this better reflects the real-world structure of the museum (bunker is a part of the museum, not vice versa). --Sintakso (talk) 11:47, 8 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
Ok, I'll wait & see how it turns out --Hjart (talk) 12:12, 8 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Hjart: Thank you for your patience, the separation should now be completed. See Tirpitz Museum category and Tirpitz museum (Q66310617). --Sintakso (talk) 13:14, 8 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Why was my edit reverted? edit

According to WP:SHORTDESC, an initial capital is preferable. It isn't the only change I made though, and I'm not sure why it isn't showing up in the diff, but there was something I couldn't read at the end of the description in another language that I removed on the English Wikipedia version of the article, where I made the edit. Clovermoss (talk) 19:16, 29 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Clovermoss: Hello, I think you have unintentionally edited Wikidata description instead of Wikipedia short description. While Wikidata descriptions "begin with a lowercase letter except when uppercase would normally be required or expected" (see Help:Description#Capitalization), the guidelines for short descriptions on Wikipedia are different as you have correctly noted above. I believe that both Wikidata and Wikipedia descriptions can currently appear in the Wikipedia mobile app. --Sintakso (talk) 06:41, 30 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Sloučení edit

Díky za sloučení wikidat Adolf Langer (Q2169946). Ukazoval jsem kurzistům infobox-wikidada, zakládání wikidat (základy) a neověřil, zda už neexistují. Vaše reakce byla i milým překvapením jak wiki fungujeǃ Ikcur (talk) 11:26, 20 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Wiki of Functions followup edit

Hi there, I'm a researcher for the Wikilambda project. Last month we held a naming contest and I'm following up with those who voted to see if you might be willing to provide some feedback to help guide the project.

This would be a 45 minute conversation about your past experience with other Wikimedia projects and thoughts about the future of this new initiative. I'm hoping to gather a wide range of perspectives so I'd be interested in your opinion regardless of whether you plan to have further involvement.

As a way of saying thanks, the research team is offering a $35 gift card (in your local currency) for participation. We could chat by phone or through a website for audio conferencing.

If you're interested just pick a time slot from this calendar link:
https://wikilambda-voter.youcanbook.me

Hope to hear from you soon!
