Global blocking of IP 216.130.69.237

(spamhaus | projecthoneypot | malwareurl)
Inserts {{delete|no content}} in various articles with content in various small/er Wikipedias, like this and this.
Did also open Proposals for closing projects/Closure of Norwegian (Nynorsk) Wikipedia
--Jorunn 20:04, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
- The IP has tagged more articles with content for deletion, and did also open Proposals for closing projects/Closure of Karakalpak Wikipedia (which was deleted as trolling). --Jorunn 10:02, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
- That was a lot of x-wiki edits. blocked Laaknor 10:45, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
Request for global (un)lock and (un)hiding
Global lock/unlock for user:Newyorkmets2000
- Newyorkmets2000 (if you know the home wiki)
Already locked by User:Pathoschild about a month ago. GrooveDog 03:37, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
- I undid the done note because it appears that this is an unlock (not a lock) request. That being said I considered just removing the entry all together as it was added by an IP that has had a history making an odd unblock request a couple days ago. If others agree feel free to remove. Jamesofur 14:51, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
- I have blocked the IP. The user was locked due to vandalism and crosswiki abuse using multiple accounts (see here for more details).

I see no reason to unlock this account. --Erwin 11:15, 2 December 2009 (UTC)

Global lock/unlock for Pickbothmanlol
Having been blocked on en.wikipedia, Pickbothmanlol decided to "take action" in disruptively editing another WMF wiki, ng:wikipedia:Special:Contributions/Pickbothmanlol, Wikipedia in Ndongo:
- +1 704 805 bytes
- + 1 705 726 bytes
- +1 703 383 bytes
- + 1 705 119
- +1 691 253
- page created with 1 705 805 bytes
- page also created with 1 705 805 bytes
- all these diffs are simply a HUGE table in earth tones, saying nothing else than "We are anonymous" (sizes are in pixels, compare with the biggest 2500px-wide screen, you get 8 times that...) :
<div style="position:fixed; width=20000; height=200000; left:0%; top:0%; overflow:visible;">
He also made a "request for new language" for a wikipedia in Afrikaans (which already exists, of course, don't worry ;-) ), probably as a trolling effort here on meta. Said request has been deleted by Mike.lifeguard, also on my request, since it's useless considering said wiki already exists.
Since yesterday, he has visited a few small WMF wikis : apart from afwiki (afrikaans, 13000-something articles), which seems big enough to block him early in case of similarly disruptive editing, he found sgwiki (sango, 28 articles and no sysop), kshwiki (kölsch, 10000 articles, 8 sysops and 52 contributors in the last month), ckbwiki(sorani, 595 articles, 2 sysops, 37 active). He is obviously targetting small wikis, probably to vandalize/troll them too, expecting small wikis to have fewer or no sysops, which he certainly thinks is the best way to keep his vandalisms where they are as long as possible.
He also triggered the ban of a whole IP range on at least two chans on Freenode, #wikipedia and #wikipedia-en (*!*@adsl-*.mgm.bellsouth.net, dynamic IPs, he's the only user in this host range for these channels; this host range covers a wide IPaddress range - i've seen IPs of his in a /4 range : Dns resolved adsl-81-141-199.mgm.bellsouth.net to 65.81.141.199 ; Dns resolved adsl-227-244-41.mgm.bellsouth.net to 74.227.244.41 -, thus making it impossible to block him by IP range ; luckily he has a SUL ;-) ).
He seems unable to contribute efficiently/honestly to any WMF wiki, and I don't believe we should waste our time tracking his contributions : global lock seems a reasonable solution.
Thanks in advance.

- I've spoken with them in IRC, and was promised that they wouldn't be vandalizing any longer. Until they prove that to be a lie, I'm willing to leave the account unlocked. — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 00:44, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
- "Them" ? ^^'
- Anyway, I'll watch him now and then and keep you posted ;-)
- Alphos [bother me] 04:25, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
- While 'they' and 'them' are usually used as third person plural pronouns, they have a secondary use of being third person singular pronouns for a persons of indeterminate or irrelevant gender; This is used instead of assuming 'he' or such pronoun (mis)constructions as (s)he, he/she, or alternating pronoun genders in cases where gender assertion simply isn't meaningful. Requests for global IP block exemptions
Global IP block exempt for Shizhao
- Global user: Shizhao (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
I use SSH as a proxy at dreamhost account, but the IP blocked on wiki. I'm from China, some wiki page GFWed in China. thanks, --Shizhao 01:44, 2 December 2009 (UTC)
- Is it a global IP block you're trying to bypass? Also, what does "GFWed" mean? — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 20:17, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
- I believe GFW refers to en:Golden Shield Project. --Meno25 21:31, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
- I support Shizhao's request: 1) The Golden Shield is a known issue, and one of the reasons leading to the initial creation of IPBE in the first place, and 2) As a former Steward, I trust Shizhao to not abuse this ability. Kylu 15:56, 6 December 2009 (UTC)

Requests for global permissions
Global rollback for Lavallen
- Global user: Lavallen (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
I am daily watching a number of minor wiki's with scandinavian languages and some other, not to distant related, languages. Most of them has no rollback-group. I see no point in watching languages, I do not understand at all. -- Lavallen 20:23, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
- I'm sorry but I can't support this request yet. You've mostly edited your own user pages and I don't see a need for global rollback. For now I think it'd be better to use the undo function instead. --Erwin 11:02, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
- Never mind! Most of my edits (outside my own name-space) are deleted by sysops and stewards, since most of the edits are local speedy delete-requests. -- Lavallen 16:54, 23 November 2009 (UTC)
- Not at this time. --FiliP ██ 21:59, 23 November 2009 (UTC)
- I also agree that its not now. If you wish to have rollback-rights on scandinavian wikis, you can ask for sysop-rights on these specific wikis. Laaknor 20:28, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
Seems clear. not granted Laaknor 16:25, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
Global rollback for GrooveDog
- Global user: GrooveDog (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
I'm an admin on Simple WB, and a rollbacker on enwp and simplewp. I've been doing SWMT work for a couple months now and have a few hundred reverts/{{delete}} taggings under my belt. In those few months, there've been a few multiple-revision-edit vandals, so rollback would be somewhat handy for that. I've also tried some anti-spam work, and when I have time I idle in the IRC spamwatch channel. I've tried closing a few COIBot reports, and hope to do some more cross-wiki work with that in the future. GrooveDog 16:28, 27 November 2009 (UTC)
- IMHO this is too soon, the user seems to need more experience in x-wiki-work, revising the x-wiki-contributions I stumbled across several incidents where he added a {delete} too soon or where things where reverted that shouldn't have been [3], [4]... Probably in some months with more care and respect for other languages, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 13:40, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for the comment. I've made mistakes in the past (those edits are both from a few weeks ago), and I understand that, but I think my judgment's improved significantly through experience. GR would also be helpful in situations such as this guy, so I don't have to ping a steward. Not trying to look like a badger, just a note. :-) GrooveDog 14:45, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
- I think waiting a bit longer wouldn't hurt, you are fairly new. No huge problems I can see, but I'd prefer a bit more of a track record. — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 20:14, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
- I agree with birdy and Mike. Laaknor 20:32, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
- I as well. Suggest close as not done. ++Lar: t/c 05:36, 11 December 2009 (UTC)
- 2 weeks, comments from three stewards and one former steward, all saying it's too early. Marking as Not done. Try again in a few months. Laaknor 21:10, 11 December 2009 (UTC)
Global rollback for MisterWiki
- Global user: MisterWiki (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
- What is your rationale for that? Why do you think you'd be a good global rollbacker? --FiliP ██ 15:51, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
- I'm a rollbacker in en.wiki, and I do a great job with it. --MisterWiki (talk) 15:54, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
- However, a usual prerequisite for getting global rollback is some sort of crosswiki inactivity, especially with smaller projects that might require this right the most. --FiliP ██ 16:01, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
- I'm a rollbacker in en.wiki, and I do a great job with it. --MisterWiki (talk) 15:54, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
- Oppose Global rollback is about crosswiki anti vandal work and not merely about a single wiki. Also, I cannot trust someone with GR blocked on another wiki. Pmlineditor ∞ 16:00, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
- You are blocked on es.wiki for spaming. Is that a kind of great job globaly? --WizardOfOz 16:01, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
