Request for global (un)block

Global unblock for 134.130.4.243

Status:    Done

This IP has been blocked as an open proxy. Whether or not it presently acts as an open proxy, I cannot say. I know, however, that it acts as a proxy server for at least part of the network of the RWTH Aachen University. 134.130.4.243 10:27, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

You may be able to bypass the proxy by using https://secure.wikimedia.org/ instead. Let me know if it works please? Kylu 22:36, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
Yes, that works. Thanks. What about other users who have to go through that proxy for normal web browsing. Could they be informed about this solution somehow? 134.130.4.243 22:45, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
The head of Rechen- und Kommunikationszentrum of the RWTH promised to create a workaround. I.e. everybody will get back his own IP and the block for 134.130.4.243 will get obsolete. Just wait some time… --Euku 10:55, 23 October 2010 (UTC)

Ive been blocked for Open Proxy, but the complaints on my talkpage have nothing to do with me, the block expires on 22 October 2011, but i can certify that it was not me that edited those pages. 193.188.105.25 16:47, 2 November 2010 (UTC)

Global unblock for 98.119.157.137

Status:    Done

I've been blocked for being an "Open proxy: TOR exit node". I do not have TOR installed on my system, nor am I hosting a proxy service. I've checked my user contributions and confirmed that all edits shown are mine and mine alone.

TOR exit node as recently as 10/07/10 per this --Herby talk thyme 16:40, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
I'm not seeing October 7th on that page. That table shows "Last confirmed - 7‑7‑2010", which was three months ago. First confirmation was one day before the last confirmation. That could have been any one of my friends who stayed overnight and logged onto my WiFi with their laptop. -- 98.119.157.137 17:02 26 Oct 2010 (UTC)
I don't understand why I've received a year-long global block for a Tor node that only appeared inside a 24-hour period on my network over four months ago. That node hasn't been seen since, despite what Herby says. By comparison, known vandals are only given 2-week blocks! Is anyone looking into my request? -- 98.119.157.137 21:00, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
Unblocked after confirming that the above IP address is not a TOR exit node. --dferg ☎ talk 22:53, 11 November 2010 (UTC)

Global unblock for 77.69.195.30

Status:    Done
  • 77.69.195.30
  • Editing from my IP address or IP address range has been disabled on all wikis by Shizhao (meta.wikimedia.org). The reason given was "open proxy". I don't believe I'm using a proxy, although I do notice that my local connection tells me that my IP address is 192.168.1.67 while www.whatismyip.com tells me that it's 77.69.195.30. Unclear as to why I've been blocked, but I'd greatly appreciate it if this "ruling" could be overturned. Never had any issues until today. Thanks! --Mike Beidler 15:21, 18 November 2010 (UTC)

Local unblock for 151.49.0.0/18

Status:    Done

Can a steward try to whitelist on itwiki 151.49.0.0/18, there's a global block on the range and we would like to relax the account creation restriction since it's affecting many italian users, but local sysops for some reason aren't able to do it (see log). Thanks. --Brownout(msg) 15:54, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

Due to some vandalism since some days, and some wikis. Due to nowhere good contribution, this account is not use to be a contributor, so i propose a global block for 30 days. Crochet.david 14:57, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

Hum, i don't know if this resquest can be done due to be a not-global account .Crochet.david 14:59, 23 November 2010 (UTC)
It can't, and in any case at least the enwiki user is probably an unrelated editor. Jafeluv 15:41, 23 November 2010 (UTC)
Can't do, not a SUL'd account. Kylu 21:15, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

Global unlock for Tyciol

Status:    Not done

Tyciol has emailed me several times regarding the lock on his account and wishes an opportunity to have the action rescinded. I have posted the emails he's sent me faithfully and with his permission.
Please review his statements at User talk:Tyciol#Policy and effects and the actions of myself, him, and others leading to the review.
I don't feel at liberty to release the various complaints received pertaining to this, though those interested in the matter who have sent them may feel free to state that they have done so. Also, I'd like to abstain from making decisions regarding the continued lock on the account, so as to not appear to be dictating terms to Tyciol for the release of the account, as it seems to me to be a potential ethical breach to do so. Kylu 07:04, 22 August 2010 (UTC)

  • Statement from Sue Gardner on the related matter can be found here, which was prompted as a clarification of her media quoted statement on the matter. I will quote and leave it at that: "I believe that zero tolerance for pedophilia and pedophilia advocacy is just common sense, and shouldn't necessarily need to be explicitly articulated in policy in order to be regularly and consistently enforced by admins.". Ottava Rima (talk) 01:31, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
True, and was a partial basis for the lock. He appears to be stating that he is neither a pedophile nor an advocate of such, however. I don't suppose you (or anyone else) would be willing to post diffs to either prove or refute his claim? Alternatively, another steward could unlock him and an RFC could be started on the matter, though I won't be doing so myself (see my last reply, his talkpage, for why.) Kylu 14:06, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
The evidence has been posted but is mostly a collection of off site material - he has posted on multiple forums that he is willing to pursue sexual activity with those as young as 13 and has no problem with those who pursue sexual activity with those younger. Surrounding statements were advocacy and defense of such behavior. If a representative of en.wiki's ArbCom doesn't send information to the Steward email list in a few days I will send some links myself. A website that I cannot link to (encyclopedia dramatica) has a lot of the evidence on their Tyciol page. But looking at that page comes with various risks. Ottava Rima (talk) 17:26, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
It might help the community were we to have some sort of link between those accounts and the Tyciol here, other than usernames. I'm aware that there are at least four other Kylus online, for instance. I'm really starting to think this request should get its own page... Kylu 17:18, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
He has admitted it before. en-ArbCom is best to contact. Ottava Rima (talk) 20:02, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
  • I would have to oppose an unlock. Tyciol was caught socking no more than three months ago in which he made troll edits such as this to a picture of Alison (talk · contribs · page moves · block user · block log), and went right back to editing similar topic matters that got him blocked in the first place, such as Commons:File talk:Anime Girl.svg and Laws regarding child pornography (along with others). Tiptoety talk 19:27, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
  • New email, see relevant section on Tyciol's talkpage here. Kylu 02:14, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
Not done at the moment I cant see any motive or trusted users endorsing this request. If the user wants to be unlocked, your best option is to request that users who agree with that initiate an RFC. Best regards - @lestaty discuţie 13:16, 20 November 2010 (UTC)

Iffy maybe, but I don't think we need a username "The Holocaust". I don't know what other venue to bring this up at. --Seb az86556 04:26, 24 August 2010 (UTC)

I tend to agree completely, but I think it may make sense to ask a couple/few admins at relevant language sites and see. I think that just because abuse can be viewed by some does not mean all, or even a majority, would. fr33kman t - c 04:50, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
Already indeffed @ he.wiki. Seb az86556 05:01, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
  • Comment - I personally understand the reasons for this request; I might be wrong however the user seems to be contributing in a positive manner in other wikis (e.g: ruwiki) so I do not think a global lock is the appropiate way to deal with this. Just my two cents. --dferg ☎ talk 19:21, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
The user stated on his ruwiki userpage that his username should read as of הַשְׁוָאָה (Comparison), not הַשׁוֹאָה (Holocaust). Note niqqud and the qamatzs. The Hebrew Wiktionary page. From another point, this username gives SUL problems, for example he has already been renamed on enwiki, so he can't unify it --Arseny1992 23:37, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
well, that's 'cause he apparently doesn't know how to spell. W/o vowels, it's השוואה
