This page enables stewards to handle permissions requests, including the giving and taking of administrator, bureaucrat, checkuser, and oversight rights, for all Wikimedia wikis which do not have a local permissions procedure. If you are requesting adminship or bureaucratship, and your wiki has a local bureaucrat, submit your request to that user or to the relevant local request page (see the index of request pages). Requests for bot status, URL blacklisting and whitelisting, and CheckUser queries belong elsewhere.

Interface-translations are done at Betawiki.

For urgent requests, such as to combat large-scale vandalism on a small wiki, contact a steward in the #wikimedia-stewardsconnect IRC channel (see a web-based IRC client). In emergencies only, type !steward in the channel to inform stewards that you need help.

Please only make requests here after gaining the on-wiki approval of your local community.

Using this page

When requesting permissions, copy and paste the following text into the correct section. Please fill in all the required fields -- language code, link to the local request (or other means of confirming that the request has approval), and link to your local user page. Without this information, a steward cannot process your request.

Please summarize your request in the "summary".

Username@language-code project-name
I request sysop access.
*Language Code: xx
*Local Request Link: :xx:Project:wiki
*Automatic List of local bureaucrats: :xx:Project:Special:Listusers/bureaucrat
*Local User Page: xx:User:Example

Thank you. ~~~~

Confirmation of identity

Certain permissions (notably CheckUser and Oversight) additionally require users to confirm their identity. Users requesting these permissions must make a request below, and must also submit the relevant identification to the Foundation. The request is placed on hold temporarily, until receipt has been formally confirmed by the office.

Instructions for how you can confirm your identity can be found at: Steward handbook/email templates.

For stewards: Identification noticeboard.

Requests

Administrator access

See administrator for information about the position. Requests for temporary permissions and removal of access belong in other sections.

Bureaucrat access

See bureaucrat for information about the position.

Puntori@sq.wikibooks.org

I request Bureaucrat access.

Thank you. Puntori 09:25, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

On hold because the voting started only yesterday and there are only 4 votes so far. --FiLiP ¤ 09:37, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Two voters don't seem to have any other meaningful contributions beside the voting page and some of the others don't seem to be particularly active on the project. Besides, in a community with only two sysops, is a bureaucrat really needed? I'm inclined not to give the rights. --FiLiP ¤ 16:57, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dtom@hrwikibooks

I request Bureaucrat access for user Dtom

CheckUser access

To request CheckUser information, see Request for CheckUser information. This is the place to request CheckUser access. Note that temporary CheckUser access is not permitted.

Stewards: When someone asks for CheckUser status, please check the current policy regarding bestowal of status before giving the status. Do not grant CheckUser access unless the user is identified to the foundation, which will be announced here. Breaching these rules may be cause for removing your steward access. When you give someone CheckUser, please list them on CheckUser, ask them to subscribe to checkuser-l, email checkuser-l-owner@wikipedia.org so that the listadmins know the person is allowed on the mailing list (the list may contain confidential information), and make sure they contact an op for access to #wikimedia-checkuser.

Oversight access

Do not initiate an oversight request here. The Arbitration Committee will make the request once there is consensus on the local wiki (this process is currently for en-Wikipedia only).

Stewards: Do not grant Oversight access unless the user is identified to the foundation, which will be announced here. When you give someone oversight access, list them on Hiding revisions.

Removal of access

If you want to request that your own status be removed, please don't forget to place a note on your local user talk page (preferably with an English translation). This is required to prove your identity. And then add the request here. You should add the difflink of your local confirmation edit to the request.

To request the removal of another user's status, you must gain consensus on the local wiki first. All discussion must be kept on your local wiki. When there is community consensus that the user's access should be removed, a trusted person from that wiki should provide a link here to the discussion, a very brief explanation of the reason for the request, and summarize the results of discussion.

Copy and paste the following text into the correct section. Fill in all the required fields -- language code, link to the local request, and link to your local user page. Without this information, a steward cannot process your request.

Username@language-code project-name
I request removal of access.
*Language Code: xx
*Local Confirmation/Request Link: <!--Difflink of the local confirmation edit (for own requests), or link to the community decision-->
*Local User Page: xx:User:Example

Thank you. ~~~~

Please summarize your request in the "summary".

WonRyong@ko.wikisource

s:ko:사용자:WonRyong got a temporary sysopship due to the absence of active sysop. Since s:ko:사용자:한동성, who used to be inactive for a while, is informed about this and started contributing again, WonRyong's temporary sysopship may now be removed. WonRyong has confirmed that the removal of admin status is up to the Steward.

Thanks. --HanDongSeong 13:21, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, please could You give a diff link to the confirmation of WonRyong, I wonder, is his work so bad that they don't wish to work together? Best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 13:28, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
HanDongSeong is ko.wikisource admin. I think, "He is not active." But, he said, "I am not inactive."
[6] - HanDongSeong's contributions at ko.wikisource
[7] - My contributions at ko.wikisource -- WonRyong 14:32, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, so what should be done, can't You both work together? It looks to me that WonRyong does a good job. However, when he asked for temp-access the other user was inactive, so I don't see any reason to revoce the status on that ground. Only if WonRyong confirms himself that he wants his status removed. Best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 14:36, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I confirm that I wants my status is not removed. I want that this site is active! :) -- WonRyong 14:47, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not done, please work together on that wiki, You have the same interest so please cooperate, thanks, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 15:20, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

For your information, WonRyong once has been blocked for a week in ko.wikipedia due to his offense against other users, and blocked again due to his abusing of multiple accounts. Three of them were permanently blocked [8] [9] [10] and one of them was blocked for two weeks. [11] He was also charged with his constant copyright infringement and at least a year of block was suggested, which 17 users of ko.wikipedia supported. [12] Currently, he is creating a lot of pages, including Wikisource namespace ones, which should not be created by a user but through users' discussions. For example he created s:ko:Wikisource:컨센서스 starting with explicit POV, which could be translated as: "Decision should be made by consensus. [...] Actually there is no consensus, only vote exists. From prehistoric age to now, and to future, in every kind of society including communism or democracy, the principle and basis are voting."(모든 사회의 의사결정은 기본적으로 컨센서스에 의해 결정되는 것이 원칙입니다. [...] 실질적으로는, 컨센서스는 없으며, 투표만이 존재합니다. 역시, 원시시대 부터 지금까지, 미래에도, 공산주의건 민주주의건 어떤 공동체에서도, 그 원칙과 기본은 투표입니다.) Also, still I really don't see any reason to keep his temporary admin status while there's neither ko.wikisource users' consensus for his admin status nor other admin's absence anymore. --HanDongSeong 06:11, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I was contacted by a Korean user yesterday who explained the situation to me differently, he had no concerns regarding WonRyong. I don't see how creating Wikisource-namespace pages has anything to do with having a sysop flag. Being banned on another project is not necessarily a reason not to be sysop on another project. The temporary sysopship is granted to users on projects with no or very small communities. The request made below looks valid to me, also I still don't see a reason to remove the flag granted by a valid request, even if an user returns after one year inactivity one or two days afterwards. I will however ask other stewards to review this issue.
Best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 09:29, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I would also decline the request with the same rationale. --Thogo (talk) 10:21, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
HanDongSeong and WonRyong, I would like to invite You both to #wikimedia-stewardsconnect at the same time to talk about this more easily, I still hope this issue can be settled and You two work together on that Wiki. Please post a prefered time here, and we hopefully find some date when we can all be online. Thanks, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 20:49, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I noticed this to HanDongSeong. his talk page is s:ko:User_talk:한동성. Above bad infomations about me are sorrow. He is seemed to think that I am a robbery. :( -- WonRyong 21:47, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

MK@ar Wikipedia

I request removal of access.

Thank you. MK 16:25, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Would that include the removal of your bureaucrat status as well? I mean, there's no reason to keep it if you get your admin status removed, so I just want to confirm. --FiLiP ¤ 16:34, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, what I meant was the removal of both statuses (crat & admin). Thanks in advance. --MK 16:39, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Done, thanks for Your work, best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 16:45, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary permissions for emergency or technical purposes

If you are requesting administrator status to make a translation of the wiki interface, see also the BetaWiki project, which seeks to make a neutral MediaWiki translation that will then be default for all wikis. That is more useful than only making a local translation. You can ask questions in the IRC channel or in the mailing list. See also MediaWiki localisation. If you are requesting adminship to handle one-time vandalism incidents or clearing a deletion backlog, please see Vandalism reports and Multilingual speedy deletions.

Stewards: Currently active temporary permissions are listed at /Approved temporary. When granting a request, please copy the request to the appropriate section there, and clearly state the date of removal. Requests only need remain listed below for a few days, and may afterward be removed as long as they have been copied to the subpage.

Copy and paste the following text into the correct section. Fill in all the required fields -- language code, link to the list of sysops and bureaucrats, local request link, link to your local user page, and the preferred duration with a reason. Without this information, a steward cannot process your request.

 • Local Request Link: project has no active users now

 • Preferred duration and reason: 1 month - for some cleanup (delete unused categories, unused templates, very short pages).

Thank you. - ~Innvs: 00:10, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please could You explain what You mean with "very short pages" "unused templates" and "unused categories", I don't think that is something should be done by a temp-sysop who is not active on that project. Thank You, best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 12:53, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Candidates for speedy deletion, short pages, unused categories. - ~Innvs: 02:49, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry but that is not a task for a temp-sysop, speedy-deletions are ok, but what troubles me is the deletion of short pages and templates and such. For example av:Дагестанские Огни is a short page, but I don't think such should be deleted by You or anyone outside that wiki, which You seem to be av:Special:Contributions/Innv. Thanks for Your understanding, best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 02:57, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm understand that av:Дагестанские Огни - mini-stub; but (for example) av:2010, av:2011,... etc. - vandalism and it should be removed. - ~Innvs: 03:54, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not done, the candidates for speedy deletions have been deleted, the deletion of short pages or not yet used templates etc. should please be discussed locally before taking action, many thanks for Your understanding, best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 23:04, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

alison@gdwiktionary / Scots Gaelic Wiktionary

I request temporary sysop access

Hi. I'm Alison, aka w:en:User:Alison, sysop from gawiki and gawikti. There is currently no sysop over on gdwikti yet there's still a lot of work to do. Similar to gawikti which was dormant last year, I would dearly love to restart this wiktionary as a Scots Gaelic Wiktionary would be an immense asset to native speakers. There is still quite a lot of ongoing vandalism and cruft over there, especially over the last few weeks. Also, I've been updating Mediawiki over there before moving things to Betawiki when I've had them reviewed.

Note that I've already been temporary sysop there three times previously, the last having expired yesterday. Thanks, all :) - Alison 00:53, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Felipe Aira@tlwiktionary

I request sysop access for only 2 to 3 days. I just need to fix a coding error at MediaWiki:Common.css and Monobook and their js counterparts. This is since since the very begginning collapsible navbars don't work at that wiki. I've already reported it to the only sysop their the problem, but since he's semi-active progress is slow. I plan just to copy paste the code from en. No active users in their except for vandals. This is just for the skae of getting it done fast. And also take note, if you're worried that I'm a vandal, I am a sysop of the Tagalog Wikipedia and Wikibooks. Thank you. -- Felipe Aira 12:34, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Importer for Skizzerz@mediawiki

I'd like to be an importer at mediawiki.org, as there is a whole slew of great documentation that is not on MediaWiki wiki, and as such it cannot be ported over there easily while maintaining the terms of the GFDL. If I had the import right, I would be able to Export the documentation pages that really stand out as being good from those wikis (if they have a compatible license) and Import them on MediaWiki by file upload. I hope you consider my request and if you have any additional questions feel free to ask me :) (also, I know that because I am already a sysop there I can transwiki from Meta, but this is a request for the "importupload" permission so that I may import documentation from elsewhere). --Skizzerz (talk) 20:28, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
