This page is for requests to have stewards grant or revoke administrator, bureaucrat, checkuser, and oversight rights on Wikimedia projects which do not have a local permissions procedure.

Old sections are archived. The list of archives is below.

 • Requests for bot flags are handled at SRB, and requests for global permissions are handled at SRGP.
 • If you are requesting adminship or bureaucratship, and your wiki has a local bureaucrat, submit your request to that user or to the relevant local request page (index).
 • For urgent requests, such as to combat large-scale vandalism on a small wiki, contact a steward in the #wikimedia-stewardsconnect IRC channel. In emergencies, type !steward in the channel to get the attention of stewards. Otherwise, you can type @steward for non-urgent help.

Other than requests to remove your own access or emergencies, please only make requests here after gaining the on-wiki approval of your local community.

Using this page

1. Place the following code at the bottom of the appropriate section below:

Username@xxproject
(your remarks) ~~~~

2. Fill in the values:

 • domain: the wiki's URL domain (like "ex.wikipedia" or "meta.wikimedia").
 • user name: the name of the user whose rights are to be changed (like "Exampleuser"). In case you're requesting access for multiple bots, leave this field blank and give a list of these bots in your remarks
 • discussion: a link to the local vote or discussion about the rights change (for example, "ex:Wikipedia:Requests_for_adminship#ExampleUser"). This should normally be for at least one week, but no more than three weeks (if so, you'll need to restart the process).

3. If anything is missing from your request, a steward will request more information.

Confirmation of signing confidentiality agreement

Certain permissions (notably CheckUser and Oversight) additionally require users to sign a confidentiality agreement. Users requesting these permissions must make a request below, and must also sign the confidentiality agreement with the Wikimedia Foundation. The request is placed on hold temporarily, until the receipt has been formally confirmed by the Office.

Removal of access

<translate>

 • If you're requesting the removal of your own permissions, make sure you're logged in to your account. If you have multiple flags, specify which you want removed. Stewards may delay your request a short time to ensure you have time to rethink your request (see previous discussion on 24 hour delays); the rights will not be restored by stewards once they are removed.
 • To request the removal of another user's permissions, you must gain consensus on the local wiki first. When there is community consensus that the user's access should be removed, provide a link to the discussion, with a brief explanation of the reason for the request, and summarize the results of discussion. However, as bureaucrats of some wikis may remove users from the administrator or bureaucrat group, please see also a separate list of these specific wikis.
 • To request the removal of another user's permissions for inactivity, link to your local inactivity policy. If your site does not have inactivity policy, the global policy Admin activity review applies.
 • See the instructions above for adding new requests. Please post new requests at the bottom of the section.</translate>

Miszatomic@enwikiquote

Emergency de-sysop. Also requesting global-lock on account. Sockmaster is a local en.wikiquote Admin that has engaged in: socking, trolling, vandalism, impersonating other users causing multiple globally locked accounts. See sock account Jody Fosteur, globally-locked by Savh for "Long-term abuse". See sock account DanielTom6, globally-locked by Tegel for "Long-term abuse". See also triple-voting at a Request for Adminship with sock accounts Jimmy11234 and Gene96. Thank you for your attention to this grave matter, -- Cirt (talk) 00:53, 28 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I think it might be best to leave this open a little bit, provided there are no problematic uses of the bit so that the wikiquote community has a chance to comment on your post. Snowolf How can I help? 01:04, 28 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Understood, I've got no problems with that. -- Cirt (talk) 01:06, 28 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Cirt is being deceptive, as usual. There is no emergency. Wikiquote has a de-sysop process (vote of confidence), so we don't need interference from stewards. The description "Long-term abuse" applies to a troll well-known to stewards, whom they routinely globally block, not to Miszatomic. There is no "Long-term abuse" by Miszatomic. He did apparently copy that troll in creating accounts, to then block himself, and that was childish. But to ask that his main account be globally locked is ridiculous, as all his contributions with it have been good (not just on Wikiquote). Each wiki can manage, thanks. ~ DanielTom (talk) 01:18, 28 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
pending community decision The account is blocked at enWQ by Cirt, and there is no evidence of abuse of the account with the administrator rights. Further it is not evident that this is a community decision, so this matter is put on hold until we have the community's direction. I would think we stewards may need to review our data if there is indeed an issue of LTA.  — billinghurst sDrewth 01:40, 28 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Note: Per community input, I've taken the Wikiquote community suggestions and advice onboard. I've started a local Admin rights removal discussion with the Wikiquote community to remove sysop privileges for the sockmaster; discussion at: q:Wikiquote:Requests for adminship/Miszatomic (removal). -- Cirt (talk) 01:43, 28 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Update: The reason for the global-locks by the Stewards may be due to the now deleted contribs of the sock accounts (restored for visibility of diffs). One example: Threatening an admin (not himself, not Miszatomic, but admin UDScott ) and his family with physical harm and death: "U SON OF A BITCH U BETTER UNBLOCK ME OR ELSE U AND UR LOVED 1S WILL FACE A PAINFUL DEATH!". Perhaps that might shed some light on the rationale for the global locks by the Stewards. -- Cirt (talk) 02:42, 28 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
If User:Jody Fosteur really is Miszatomic's sock, then it did behave badly, which was his excuse to then block it himself. Again, stewards familiar with the troll he was imitating know he does make death threats, so it's not surprising that Miszatomic would also copy this (although it shows very poor judgment). That said, Miszatomic's main account itself has never made any bad edit, on any project, as far as I can see. It is only blocked in one project (by Cirt), and that project is already dealing with this, and can manage without central interference from stewards, thanks. ~ DanielTom (talk) 11:17, 28 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
*Comment: It is quite possible that Miszatomic (talk · contribs) = is and always was the same user as all the troll accounts by q:User:Wiki-star, rather than "imitating" them, they could all be one and the same. Just one of their socks happened to make it to admin with account Miszatomic (talk · contribs). -- Cirt (talk) 12:17, 28 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Not done Your case has errors of fact, and your supposition is emotion, not fact. Evidence from checkuser analysis by myself, and subsequently reviewed by Savh and Snowolf indicates that Miszatomic is not the vandal identified at enWP, and enWQ, as such it is not quite possible. Happy for you to ask for these stewards or others to confirm the reviews, if necessary.  — billinghurst sDrewth 09:32, 30 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Supplementary. This is the emergency de-admin, and any subsequent consensus of your community will be taken as a new request.  — billinghurst sDrewth 09:34, 30 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Holder@metawiki

Please remove my global rename flag. After several months I've found that I don't need it. Thanks and best regards. --Holder (talk) 08:38, 29 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This request should probably be moved to SRP for proper archiving, as also done with other global right removal requests. Vogone (talk) 13:03, 29 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I moved it now [from SRGP]. The request itself should be on hold for a day, if Holder still decides otherwise, as we do with most other resignations, I think. --MF-W 13:27, 29 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Done. Thank you for your service. Savhñ 08:40, 30 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
