This page is for requests to have stewards grant or revoke administrator, bureaucrat, checkuser, and oversight rights on Wikimedia projects which do not have a local permissions procedure.

Old sections are archived. The list of archives is below.

 • Requests for bot flags are handled at SRB, and requests for global permissions are handled at SRGP.
 • If you are requesting adminship or bureaucratship, and your wiki has a local bureaucrat, submit your request to that user or to the relevant local request page (index).
 • For urgent requests, such as to combat large-scale vandalism on a small wiki, contact a steward in the #wikimedia-stewardsconnect IRC channel. In emergencies, type !steward in the channel to get the attention of stewards. Otherwise, you can type @steward for non-urgent help.

Other than requests to remove your own access or emergencies, please only make requests here after gaining the on-wiki approval of your local community.

Meta-Wiki requests

Using this page

1. Place the following code at the bottom of the appropriate section below:

Username@xxproject
(your remarks) ~~~~

2. Fill in the values:

 • domain: the wiki's URL domain (like "ex.wikipedia" or "meta.wikimedia").
 • user name: the name of the user whose rights are to be changed (like "Exampleuser"). In case you're requesting access for multiple bots, leave this field blank and give a list of these bots in your remarks
 • discussion: a link to the local vote or discussion about the rights change (for example, "ex:Wikipedia:Requests_for_adminship#ExampleUser"). This should normally be for at least one week, but no more than three weeks (if so, you'll need to restart the process).

3. If anything is missing from your request, a steward will request more information.

Confirmation of signing confidentiality agreement

Certain permissions (notably CheckUser and Oversight) additionally require users to sign a confidentiality agreement. Users requesting these permissions must make a request below, and must also sign the confidentiality agreement with the Wikimedia Foundation. The request is placed on hold temporarily, until the receipt has been formally confirmed by the Office.

After 1 month, elected by consensus. Our policies say to end an election after 14 days. Vlademir Santos 17:18, 15 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You mean a permanent adminship, do not you? Ruslik 17:24, 15 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
They mean that the RFA lasted 1 month instead of the typical 14 days, and it still passed with 2 weeks for any extra comments. Therefore yes, this is a permanent adminship request. The Helpful One 17:36, 15 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Done granted temp for 6 months, as 3 voters are too few. expires 15.11.2011 Matanya 21:11, 15 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ashina@kk.wikipedia

I am applying for adminship at kazakh wikipedia. There is only one admin, however he doesn't respond at least month. Also to increase activity of users our community needs more admins. The group of enthusiastic people started process to create a chapter in Kazakhstan. We are communicating with Sj (member of the Board of Trustees and Asaf Bartov). At the moment we need to organize the main page of Kazakh Wikipedia and further promotion among students. --Ashina 06:16, 16 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

On hold until 19 May. Ruslik 07:09, 16 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The only bureaucrat there GaiJin is inactive after October 2010. I am asking to get any response. If no response, I will locally propose to de-flag.--Jusjih 17:44, 18 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Done for three months. Expires on 21 August 2011. Ruslik 06:45, 21 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

MikeLynch@sawikipedia

I would like to request permanent admin tools at Sa Wikipedia, and the community has supported my proposal. Note: though there are only 5 Supports, I request you to bear in mind that the community is small, and these are the most active editors. Thanks. Yes Michael?Talk 13:14, 18 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Have you tried reaching out to a crat on sa.wiki? I know they are not active anymore but maybe they would consider appointing a crat there to handle the requests locally. There seems to be a lot of requests from sa.wiki, the community seems to be getting active again. Theo10011 13:22, 18 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The local crat is inactive. The recent request from sawiki was for a temporary adminship, but I think that the temporary admin does not know about things like IP blocks, and rights changes, and he has made some fundamental mistakes there. Hence my request. Yes Michael?Talk 13:26, 18 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the response, I'll try and poke HP again. Also, I know the temp. sysop is inexperienced, who instead of familiarizing himself with the tools and wiki, has just been requesting several rights. I hope you can do a better job, you have my support for permanent sysops there. Good luck! Theo10011 13:36, 18 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I am asking the only bureaucrat there. If no response, I will locally propose de-flagging.--Jusjih 17:55, 18 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Theo for the earlier note. Mike, you've been given the privileges requested. Just to be sure things run smoothly over there though, I've went ahead and added you as a bureaucrat as well. Use it well. You've been doing some good work there. --H P Nadig 06:35, 19 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Done by local bureaucrat. Matanya 06:42, 19 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

វ័ណថារិទ្ធ@kmwiktionary

Greetings from Khmer Wiktionary and other sister projects! I am one of the admin team in Khmer Wikipedia. Currently there is no admin in Khmer Wiktionary, plus every small number of regular and active contributing users. So I am requesting a sysop right to maintain the project and promote awareness among Cambodian users. Lately, I have been networking with other like-mined fellow Cambodians and doing some localization on Templates, Categories, and Help pages...etc. Per the local community approval, I got 5 voices supporting my request. Thank you! Let me know if you have any inquiries.--វ័ណថារិទ្ធ (Vantharith) 12:25, 19 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I see you got two opposes. I'm i right? Matanya 13:11, 19 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I think those are part of the template. Looking at the history I only see edits from the five supporters and the nominee. Someone who understands Khmer should verify that, though. Jafeluv 14:04, 19 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Comment For the record: one vote is from an IP, 3 are from users that just went to vote (not part of the community) and 1 real vote. -- Màñü飆¹5 talk [es] 14:48, 19 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi and thanks for your questions. The result is indeed 5 votes vs. 0 - the 2 items you saw in Opposing are part of the template. And thanks for the common note - yes, among the 5 votes, 4 are actually helping out at Khmer Wikipedia project. There are only 2-3 active contributors, and many other bots. Our Khmer Wiktionary has been abandoned for long while, that's why I am here to request for sysop. We are now building ground networking to recruit more volunteers and to match their interests/skills accordingly to our Khmer Wiki projects. You can have a look at some of our efforts here - Fan Page on FB, #kmwp twitter account, blog... And in case you need a Wiktionarian who is knowledgable in Khmer language, you can contact User:Stephen. Hope this clarifies. Thank you! --វ័ណថារិទ្ធ (Vantharith) 15:28, 20 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
As some of you have figured out, there are NO votes against. There are only 5 votes for. Yes, one is an IP. What’s wrong with that? You can do a checkuser on the IP if you think it is fishy. Anonymous users can vote like anyone else. One of the "3 are from users that just went to vote" was me. I do most of the Khmer entries on English Wiktionary and I did not "just go to vote". He got 5 honest votes. Khmer Wiktionary is one of the small wikis and it is difficult to get any votes. The Khmer Wiktionary has no sysops and desperately needs one. Here is a willing volunteer who is native Khmer and who knows good English. He’s a goldmine and he got 5 votes, with no opposition.
We had this same problem on the Navajo Wikipedia and could not muster more than two or three votes. We got our admins in spite of that weakness and look what a boon it has been for the Navajo Wikipedia. You should give this willing and competent volunteer the buttons that he is asking for. Stephen G. Brown 21:16, 20 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Done for six months, expires 21/11/11. As the community is still small we can grant only temporary admin. When this time passes you can open a new request for extend your admin rights.

Please remember to translate the interface at betawiki: only and to upload images preferably at commons: -- Màñü飆¹5 talk [es] 09:06, 21 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much! --វ័ណថារិទ្ធ (Vantharith) 09:39, 21 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Odisha1@orwikipedia

I request for permanent administrator ship --Srikant Kedia 19:33, 21 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Due to small size of community I can only grant temp adminship, are you interested? Matanya 19:45, 21 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Oky, matanya, bt according to this, i am eligible to get permanent adminship --Srikant Kedia 20:03, 21 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately this RFC wasn't approved. We still stick to old rules, I'm really sorry. Can I grant you temp admin? Matanya 20:06, 21 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Oky, Matanya, I will try later, when the community will grow(Big). Thank You --Srikant Kedia 05:27, 22 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
But do you want temp. adminship in the meanwhile? -- Màñü飆¹5 talk [es] 06:41, 22 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
On IRC got a no, answer. Matanya 08:44, 22 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Bureaucrat access

Bhawani Gautam@newikipedia

I request to be bureaucrat on Nepali wiki_p for further progress of this project as there is no bureaucrat. Regards Bhawani 01:37, 18 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

 On hold until 22 May. Matanya 06:46, 18 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Mh...wasn't there something that there should always at least be two bureaucrats for a start, so no one can say that someone has the full power/dictator-like rights on a wiki. Just a thought. I prefer to give out crat rights only if there are at least two. I think this was discussed somewhere, but I can't find. -Barras 13:50, 18 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
There was some discussion in the RFC about it. Jafeluv 14:51, 18 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Per Barras. -- Dferg ☎ talk 16:23, 18 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ganesh Paudel@ne.wikipedia

There are 6 sysop but NO bureaucrat to manage the Nepali Wiki community yet. Therefore, I request to grant me bureaucrat access. I hope I can contribute Nepali Wiki Community by this access. Regards--गणेश पौडेल 05:34, 19 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

On hold until May 26 as the local vote just started today. If widely supported, both candidates will be promoted to bureaucrats, then please be active to avoid being de-flagged.--Jusjih 08:35, 19 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

CheckUser access

Steward requests/Permissions/CU-header

Oversight access

To request to have content oversighted, ask in #wikimedia-stewards, or email oversight-l@lists.wikimedia.org for requests regarding English Wikipedia. This is the place to request Oversight access. Note that temporary Oversight access is not permitted and the temporary status is only used by Stewards.

Stewards
Do not grant Oversight access unless the user is identified to the foundation, which will be announced on the Identification noticeboard. When you give someone oversight access, list them on Oversight.

Removal of access

<translate>

 • If you're requesting the removal of your own permissions, make sure you're logged in to your account. If you have multiple flags, specify which you want removed. Stewards may delay your request a short time to ensure you have time to rethink your request (see previous discussion on 24 hour delays); the rights will not be restored by stewards once they are removed.
 • To request the removal of another user's permissions, you must gain consensus on the local wiki first. When there is community consensus that the user's access should be removed, provide a link to the discussion, with a brief explanation of the reason for the request, and summarize the results of discussion. However, as bureaucrats of some wikis may remove users from the administrator or bureaucrat group, please see also a separate list of these specific wikis.
 • To request the removal of another user's permissions for inactivity, link to your local inactivity policy. If your site does not have inactivity policy, the global policy Admin activity review applies.
 • See the instructions above for adding new requests. Please post new requests at the bottom of the section.</translate>
