Positive Gossip

Report

Energize your design sprint team at the end of the day with this 15 min wrap-up exercise.

The Positive Gossip exercise is a communication exercise that allows participants to gossip about each other positively based on what happened during the workshop.

This exercise works best at the end of the day. You can use it in a design sprint, at the end of Day 1, or at the end of any other collaborative workshop. Just make sure the team is well acquainted with each other before introducing this debriefing exercise.

How does it work?

Each participant will positively gossip about the others. They will share concrete ideas about what other participants did well during the day or what they generally liked about them. Here are some examples:

  • "I liked that you really listened when I spoke."

  • "I liked that you were warm and friendly with everyone."

  • "I think you have incredible analytical skills."

After everyone gossips about everyone else, it's time for the gossipers to pick one thing that resonated with them or made them feel good and share this with the rest of the participants.

And, that's it. Every gossiper ends the day with positive thoughts and feeling excited about working with this group of participants in the future.
