Pag-aresto sa child rights NGO leader sa Bulacan kinondena

MANILA -- Kinondena ng ilang child rights groups ang pagkaaresto ng pulis at militar sa national coordinator ng grupong Philippines Against Child Trafficking (PACT) na si Ma. Salome "Sally" Crisostomo-Ujano.
Hinainan ng arrest warrant ang 64-taong-gulang na balo sa kanyang bahay sa Barangay Mabolo, Malolos, Bulacan.

Ayon sa anak niyang si Karla, kauuwi lang niya mula sa pag-jogging noong umagang iyon nang lapitan ng mga umaresto.
Kasong rebelyon na isinampa noong 2005 ang nasa likod ng warrant na inilabas ng korte sa Lucena City noong 2006.
Pero sabi ng anak, nabigla at itinanggi ni Ujano na alam nito ang kaso dahil wala siyang natanggap na impormasyon tungkol dito o pinatawag sa korte noon.
Sumama pa rin si Ujano sa mga pulis sa presinto sa Malolos bago siya dinala sa headquarters ng PNP Camp Crame sa Quezon City.
Maria Salome “Sally” Crisostomo, 64, nat’l coordinator of children’s rights NGO Philippines Against Child Trafficking (PACT) was arrested by police in Malolos, Bulacan with a warrant against her for a 2006 rebellion case.

Ayon sa ulat ng Police Regional Office 3, tinagurian si Ujano na isa sa top most wanted persons sa bansa at nagtatago umano sa batas nang mahigit 15 taon.
Pero sa pahayag, giniit ng PACT na gawa-gawa lang at walang basehan ang kaso na anila'y binuhay lang muli noong 2019.
Dagdag ng grupo, hindi nawala sa publiko si Ujano habang isinasagawa ang kanyang adbokasiya laban sa trafficking at pang-aabuso ng mga kabataan at kababaihan.
Ujano’s daughter Karla said she had arrived home from jogging to find police (both in uniform & plainclothes) serving the warrant.

Karla said her mother was surprised at the warrant, since she had no idea there was a case against her.

Central Luzon PNP called Crisostomo one of the PH’s top most wanted persons who had “been in hiding for 15 years”.

Anila, nakatrabaho pa ni Ujano ang mga ahensyang gobyerno gaya ng Women and Child Protection Units ng PNP at Philippine Women’s Commission.
Bago maging bahagi ng PACT noong 2008, halos dalawang dekada siyang nagtrabaho sa Women’s Crisis Center at naging executive director nito.
Sinabi naman ng grupong Salinlahi Alliance for Children’s Concerns na insulto sa pagtatanggol sa mga karapatan ng kabataan at maging sa mga biktima ang pagaresto kay Ujano.
Panawagan ng mga grupo, palayain agad si Ujano at ibasura na ang kaso laban sa kanya.
