Disruptions to our Inter-Library Loan Service

We are in the process of migrating to a new UK wide inter-library loan platform, and until we’ve completed the set up for the new service we’re unable to request / borrow items from other library authorities for our customers. We had planned to request items directly from the British Library during this interim period, but unfortunately The British Library is experiencing a major technology outage as a result of a recent cyber-attack, affecting their website, online systems and their inter-library loan request service. At the moment we do not have a date for when this service will be resumed.

We are planning to complete the Norfolk Libraries set up for the new WorldShare ILL UK inter-library loan system before the end of December. As soon as that work is completed, or we’re able to request items from the British Library again we’ll be able to process our your inter-library loan requests. We apologise for the delay and any inconvenience. Requests for items to purchase are being processed as usual.

If you have searched the catalogue and can't find the book you want, you can request that we either buy it and add it to our catalogue or borrow it for you from another library service on inter-library loan by filling in our item request form.

Purchase Requests: If we decide to buy the book, you will be charged our standard 60p reservation fee. There are no reservation charges for children's books.

Inter-Library Loans:  If we borrow the book from another library service for you (an interlibrary loan) the charge is £12.50 whether the request is placed by an adult or a child.

Article Requests: Regrettably we are unable to accept online requests for photocopies of books, magazines or journal articles. We are legally obliged to have a signed photocopy declaration form before these requests can be processed. Please visit your local library to submit any photocopy requests. The charge for an article request is £12.50
