Statement by the Press Secretary on the U.S. - India CEO Forum

The White House announces the U.S. members of the U.S. – India CEO Forum. The Forum is a mechanism for strengthening economic ties between the two countries. The U.S. – India CEO Forum will host its first meeting of the year today, Monday, November 23, 2009 at the U.S. Department of Treasury. The CEO participants will discuss opportunities for new partnerships between businesses in the United States and India, how to promote investment and job growth in both countries, and provide input to senior U.S. government officials on the key concerns of U.S. and Indian business leaders.  

The U.S. CEO Forum Members are:

• Richard T. Clark, Merck & Co., Inc.
• Jamie Dimon, JPMorgan Chase & Co.
• Paul Hanrahan, The AES Corporation
• Paul Jacobs, Qualcomm
• Ellen Kullman, DuPont
• Andrew Liveris, The Dow Chemical Company
• Terry McGraw, The McGraw Hill Companies
• Indra Nooyi, PepsiCo
• Vikram Pandit, Citigroup
• Mike Splinter, Applied Materials

The U.S. Members will serve two-year terms. The U.S. – India CEO Forum was initially launched in 2005, and has met in both the U.S. and India in the past. Mike Froman, Deputy National Security Advisor for International Economic Affairs, and Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission, serve as the government co-chairs of the Forum. Senior government officials expected to be present at the November 23, 2009 Forum meeting include Dr. Larry Summers, Chairman of the National Economic Council; Tim Geithner, Secretary of the Treasury; Gary Locke, Secretary of Commerce; Ron Kirk, United States Trade Representative; and Robert Hormats, Under Secretary of State for Economic, Energy and Agricultural Affairs.
