OHIO COMMUNITY COLLEGES PRAISE ENACTED BUDGET BILL

COLUMBUS, OH – Jack Hershey, President and CEO of the Ohio Association of Community Colleges (OACC), offered the following statement in response to Governor Mike DeWine signing the FY 2020-21 budget bill.

“Ohio is stronger today thanks to the budget that Governor Mike DeWine championed and signed into law. By increasing the investments in community colleges only when we educate and train students, while also providing more opportunities for Ohioans who may not want to seek a college degree to earn an industry recognized credential or short-term certificate, this budget puts us in a better position to close the skills gap and put more Ohioans on the path to rewarding new careers.

We are grateful to Governor DeWine, Speaker Householder and President Obhof for their leadership and ongoing support of our public two-year institutions. Our community colleges look forward to carrying out the vision of
the DeWine-Husted Administration and the General Assembly who clearly understand the important role we play in Ohio’s workforce development efforts.”
