Currently, aside from the on-critical-path LVS and cache hardware, there are 6x "miscellaneous" servers at each edge datacenter. Three of these are ganeti hosts servicing several instances that are less-tricky to virtualize. The other three are a bastion node and 2x of the dnsbox role, which is a combination role running authdns, recdns, and ntp servers for the site. The bastion and dnsbox hardware is under-utilized, and could probably be virtualized, subject to resolving a few nagging concerns. If we can move them all into ganeti, we can also expand the ganeti cluster to 6 hosts, greatly increasing its capacity and resiliency as more edge-site projects are due to be deployed on it with increasing scalability needs.
