Add rights to oversighters in Spanish Wikipedia
Closed, DeclinedPublic

Description

Hi. Due to this vote, I request that the following rights are added to the oversight group in eswiki:

deletedtext
deletedhistory
browsearchive

These are important as being a sysop is not a requirement for being an oversighter in this wiki, and a non-sysop oversighter would be limited by the absence of those rights.

Event Timeline

Noting that the community authorized only granting local oversighters the ability to view deleted edits/revisions (which is just deletedtext) (lit.: ¿Debe permitirse a los supresores ver ediciones marcadas como borradas? transl.: Shall we let oversighters to see deleted edits?). The other permissions where not voted/mentioned and should not be added, especially after the technical insuficiency of the proposal was raised and was not acted upon (the previous wording of the vote which proposed bulk adding all required deletion and block-related permissions to make the group self-sufficient was never adopted and its scope narrowed just to "see deleted edits"). Thanks.

Change 703905 had a related patch set uploaded (by MarcoAurelio; author: MarcoAurelio):

[operations/mediawiki-config@master] eswiki: Grant `deletedtext` to oversighters

https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/703905

Granting just deletedtext makes very little sense -- it doesn't allow its holder to view metadata about edits, and thus, special:undelete doesn't work at all with only that permission. It's only useful with revdeleted content (as the metadata is public for those edits).

Which kind of revisions are in scope? Only revdelled ones? Or also fully deleted?

The proposal mentions "view edits [marked as] deleted" without distinction, so maybe both.

@SRuizR: Hi, in the future, please follow https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Requesting_wiki_configuration_changes when requesting such kinds of changes. Thanks!

Well, from "ver ediciones marcadas como borradas" I understand that those 3 rights should be given. The revisions under RevisionDelete are deleted and the revisions under page deletion are also deleted, so I don't see the difference.

Per T286513#7206964 and T286513#7207021 I suggest to close as declined. There's no point in spending time and resources in deploying a no-op.

Boldly declining per last comment
