VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES
EVENTS AND ENTERTAINMENT
Love gigs and events? Volunteers play a huge part in the running of all our Pulse Events! They assist with O-Week, Live Art Week, Stress Less Week and all our Student Parties. They also run our weekly events such as Trivia and Lunch on the Lawn to help students meet new friends and socialise on campus!
WELLNESS
The Wellness program offers students avenues to meet new friends, reduce stress and promote positive wellbeing whilst they complete their academic studies. Volunteers can assist in running workshops like Bend & Snack yoga, Wellness Wednesdays, R U OK? Day and more.
ENVIRONMENT AND SUSTAINABILITY
The Enviro Volunteers strive to spread the word about sustainable living. The program involves planting and maintaining the Campus Garden as well as running upcycling workshops, sustainability workshops, plastic clean-ups and tree planting days.
SPORTS AND RECREATION
Help keep students fit and active. Sport and Rec Volunteers are all about getting people outdoors and moving. Active volunteers run our weekly Play Free Sport events and assist in guiding students on active tours such as hikes and surfing.
COMMUNITY
Community Volunteers also connect with the wider community and step up when there are students in need of a helping hand. Community Volunteers can also be a part of the “Community Volunteering Project”. This Project is open to all students and runs in Spring Session. Teams of students partner with a local community organisation and complete 32 hours of volunteering over 10 weeks.

VOLUNTEER TESTIMONIALS
SAMUEL PODBURY
“Volunteering with Enviro Warriors has been a great experience. Whether it be helping with the clean up after a music festival or learning new skills and meeting new people while planting seedlings in the Enviro Warrior garden. I’ve also enjoyed coming to uni early in the morning and tending to the garden, it provides a quiet serenity that is difficult to find in my busy mid-session schedule. It feels good to be able to help cultivate part of the campus environment, providing a cleaner and more positive atmosphere for myself and the other students to enjoy.”
JUSTIN LUZURIAGA
“Being part of the UniLife Volunteering Team within the Events Crew was easily one of the highlights of my UOW journey. Having the platform to be actively engaged at UOW through programs allowed me to develop both personally and professionally – all in a way that would not have been possible within a classroom setting.
The volunteering program excels in developing the skills of all involved through valuing the input and contribution that Vollies from varying backgrounds bring with them. Along with larger scale events, I was lucky enough to work closely within the UniBar Trivia and UOW Buddies teams that provided the opportunity to collaborate with likeminded and equally passionate individuals. The Events Crew volunteering pillar allowed me to go beyond the usual academic aspect of University to make a positive impact on the students I have met – whether it be teaching someone something new about Australian culture, or providing a safe and fun space at Trivia for participants to take a break from the stress that comes with studying.
Being an Events Crew volunteer is more than just volunteering – it’s making friends, bringing smiles to people’s faces, engaging with your community and truly making a difference.”
JIN BRAICOVIC
“Being able to promote health and wellbeing through sport and exercise is something that I believe is very important. Play Free Sport has motivated me to become a more active volunteer, become a dedicated member of the community and develop more of an interest in sports. It’s a positive environment where people are free to play sport in a supportive and non-judgmental scene and this experience can help to develop skills in your chosen sport.”
JONATHAN PICA
“Acting as a digital volunteer for UniLife provides a great opportunity to influence and navigate fellow students of the events and activities around campus. Each experience as a digital vollie is unique and allows for fun and exciting content to be published on their socials that you get to be a part of.”
