Violation of the Rules

In general service managers will follow the following procedures when handling possible violation of the service rules.

  • The CERN Computer Security Team will be informed.
  • Every attempt will be made to contact the user, to investigate the circumstances of the violation. The user will be informed of the steps he/she needs to take to rectify the situation. In situations critical to the operation of the service the service manager may take whatever steps are needed to restore an operational service – without advanced notice to the user concerned.
  • Should the user refuse to comply with the service manager's instructions, then the group leader, computing contact for the experiment, or external service contract manager will be informed and asked to help resolve the situation.
  • An unsatisfactory conclusion may result in the sanctions defined in section V of Operational Circular Nº5.
