London Borough of Richmond upon Thames Libraries

About us

Richmond upon Thames is the only London borough situated both north and south of the River Thames. The celebrated view of the vale of the Thames from the summit of Richmond Hill has inspired generations of writers and artists, among them William Wordsworth, Sir Walter Scott and Sir Joshua Reynolds.

The library service in Richmond upon Thames operates from 12 locations. All libraries host a range of events, reading promotions and learning opportunities. These include baby rhyme-times, children's story-times, reading groups for children, teenagers and adults, and IT taster sessions. The library service also delivers a number of national initiatives to support literacy, learning and general well-being.

Access to the 24/7 Online Reference Library, several eLibraries and the eMagazine Library are available to Richmond Library Services members and a Home Library Service is available to residents who are unable to visit their local library.
