Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead Libraries

About us

Located on the River Thames and the new Elizabeth Line, in the east of Berkshire the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead is home to Windsor Castle, Legoland and the Stanley Spencer gallery.

Windsor and Maidenhead was one of the original six members of SELMS and we are administrative lead for the Consortium. The Borough has a population of 150,906 as of 2018.

There are twelve libraries, plus the Home Library service This Service is available to residents who are unable to visit their local library and is tailored to suit individual needs.

All libraries host a range of events and reading promotions. These include rhyme-times, story-times and reading groups for adults. The library service also delivers a number of national initiatives to support literacy, learning and general well-being,including Bookstart, the Summer Reading Challenge and Books on Prescription.
