About us
Southend-on-sea Borough Libraries provide an extensive collection of books, DVDs, and other resources to support your learning, reading and leisure.
There are 6 libraries within the Southend Borough (The Forum, Leigh, Kent Elms, Westcliff, Southchurch and Shoeburyness).
The Forum is a joint Public and Academic library in the centre of Southend. Leigh, Kent Elms and Westcliff sit to the west of the town and Southchurch and Shoeburyness sit to the east of the town.
Membership is free for all libraries in Southend.
Libraries are not just full of books of all shapes, sizes and subjects. We also have audio books to borrow and also e-books, e-audio and e-magazines available to download.
- Regular Story Rhyme sessions in all our libraries
- Help with many book groups that meet in or outside of our libraries.
- A Home Library Service for those who have difficulties accessing the Library.
- Regular Code Club meetings.
- Free internet access (the 1st hour is free with a charge of £1.80 for each subsequent hour) and access to many online learning and information resources that can be used both in the library and from home using your library card.
