Welcome & Overview
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Library.
The San Francisco Public Library system provides free and equal access to information, knowledge, independent learning and the joys of reading for our diverse community.  Library volunteers support, supplement, and enrich the Library’s efforts to serve San Francisco’s diverse community in each of its 28 locations.
Youth Volunteers
The Library accepts volunteers ages 13 and up. Information for volunteers under 18 (or 18 and still in high school) is found at The Mix’s Jobs & Volunteer Opportunities page, including our YELL and Summer Squad summer volunteer programs.
Adult Volunteers

San Francisco Unified School District needs volunteers to help this summer with their food distribution program! 
Volunteer with Student Nutrition Services and play a key role in ensuring San Francisco's children have access to free, healthy food🤩🥦🍎

The first step to volunteering with the Library is to submit a volunteer interest form. Our Volunteer & Outreach Coordinator will review your interests and availability to find possible matches at a library location convenient to you and then schedule a call or meeting.
