This section contains answers to the most frequently asked questions about The Economist Store.  It will resolve most of the queries you have.
Is this the official Economist Store website run by The Economist
Yes. This website is run by staff of The Economist. This is the beta version of the new Economist Store website supported by Shopify.
 
Pricing
Prices for books are net, shipping and taxes are shown at checkout.
Diaries, Kal package, Intelligent Life, The World in, prints and some book prices include shipping, this is shown on the product page. Where applicable VAT will be added to your order when you checkout.
Payment and pricing
Prices are subject to change, it is possible, despite our efforts, that a product could be incorrectly priced. You will be responsible for paying any sales taxes or custom duties that apply to products you order from the store.
How do I register?
You can create an account in two ways; from the homepage or after you have proceeded to check out. Once registered, you will only need to enter your e-mail address and password to order again. Follow these steps:

Can I cancel my order?
We work to ship orders as quickly as possible. For this reason, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to cancel your order after it has been placed. If you need to cancel your order, please e-mail us at store@economist.com and we will do our best to cancel your order. If you order has been already shipped, please see our return policy for further instructions. 
What is the refund policy?
Please return the item within 15 days after it has been delivered, and we will issue a full refund for the cost of the item if it is in its original condition. We can only refund shipping costs if the return is a result of our error or defective goods. 
To cancel, email your e-mail receipt to store@economist.com and return the products to us immediately, in the same condition in which you received them.

What if the product is damaged in the mail?
We ask for a photo of the damaged goods, as you found it in the package, and we will gladly send a replacement, free of charge. Please send an e-mail with your receipt attached to store@economist.com
Customs duties and taxes
Duties may be payable in some countries and are your responsibility. We cannot give refunds for unclaimed items. 
Can I browse and shop on Economist Store on my mobile?
Yes, this website is mobile-friendly. You can shop and check the status of your orders from your mobile. We do not have a separate app at the moment.

Economist in print back issues
The back issues are sent by Royal Mail and airmail post, estimated delivery time after despatch is as follows:
Economist diaries & Intelligent Life
Fulfilment of diaries orders will be within 2-days after receipt of order, diary orders with gold blocked initials will be fulfilled within 2-4-days after receipt.
Diaries and Intelligent Life are sent via Royal Mail or DHL courier, estimated delivery time after despatch is as follows:
UK - 2-4 business days – Royal Mail
Europe - 4-11 business days - DHL
Middle East and Africa - 4-11 business days - DHL
ROW - 4-11 business days – DHL
Please allow a further 5 working days, after these timings, but if you do not receive your order after this time please contact us

Orders are despatched within 3 working days, delivery methods will vary from the service selected at checkout. If book is marked with Free Shipping, the delivery services are as follows:

Historical Archive
What is The Economist historical archive?
The archive allows you to read and print back copies of The Economist online, with issues dating from 1843 to 2014.
All you need is a standard web browser. No plug-ins or special applications are required.
Users have full and unlimited access to The Economist historical archive, including access to:
Users can search or browse by issue and date, or use more advanced search options such as sections of the paper, article type or article title.
Do I need to subscribe before I can access The Economist historical archive?
Yes. If you want to access the historical archive, you must subscribe.

Historical Archive Subscribers have access to the complete historical archive for the duration of their current subscription.
What's the difference between The Economist online archive and the historical archive?
Access to the historical archive provides all content from issues published between 1843 and 2009. This is not included in a digital subscription to The Economist.
A digital subscription to The Economist gives you free access to all articles from the print edition on The Economist online from 2000 onwards.
 
What happens after I place my order?
Upon receipt of your order we will arrange for your subscription to be activated and will confirm by e-mail as soon as this is set up.
 
Can I share my online access to The Economist historical archive?
Online access is personal, and can't be shared with another person.

After downloading, unzip the file. For Amazon Kindle use the .mobi file. For Nook, Android readers, iPhone, iPad and most other readers use the .epub file.

  2. Locate the "Books" folder on the Kindle
