Slate’s Mistakes for the Week of Feb. 22

In a Feb. 26 Moneybox, Aaron Mak misspelled Warren Buffett’s last name.

In a Feb. 26 Moneybox, Jordan Weissmann misstated that just under half of all Americans who earn less than $15 an hour worked at firms with fewer than 500 employees, and just under a third worked at ones with fewer than 25. The correct figures are 55 percent and 37 percent, respectively.

In a Feb. 25 Music, Carl Wilson misidentified Maggie Baird as Maggie Baird O’Connell.

In a Feb. 24 Downtime, Rebecca Schuman misstated that the German word Hamsterkauf was coined during the COVID-19 pandemic. The word first appeared during World War II and then reappeared during the pandemic.
