Sprint to the digital future and beyond…with the Europeana Education Competition 2021!
Are you searching for innovative ways of using arts and science digital heritage to raise your students’ awareness about today’s society’s big issues? Then this competition is for you! In collaboration with the 2021 STEM Discovery Campaign, the Europeana Education Competition 2021 is inviting primary and secondary school teachers of all subjects, museum educators and any other CHI professional – e.g. librarians, archivists, curators, etc. – to find innovative ways of using Europeana arts and science digital heritage in their educational activities and share their story of implementation about it!

The competition will reward the most innovative implementations in the following categories of submission:
  • Implementing STEAM educational activities with arts and science digital heritage
  • Teaching with arts and science digital heritage in primary schools
  • Teaching with arts and science digital heritage in secondary schools
  • Implementing project-based learning with arts and science digital heritage
  • Integrating arts and science digital heritage in cross-curricular and holistic topics in the classroom (e.g.: environmental education/climate change, gender equality/inclusion, citizenship, etc.)
  • Implementing arts and science digital heritage in the (virtual) classroom
  • Implementing arts and science digital heritage in a non-formal educational setting
What are the next steps?
From 15 February 2021 until 30 April 2021 at 23:59 CET:
If you are a User Group teacher:
Create one new Learning Scenario based on an agreed topic using Europeana content and submit it to the Teaching with Europeana blog and comment on one Story of Implementation and Learning Scenario of other colleagues, or
Write a Story of Implementation from the experience of implementing your own or a colleague’s Learning Scenario and comment on one Story of Implementation and Learning Scenario of other colleagues for the Teaching with Europeana blog.
If you are a User Group museum educator:
Create one learning scenario using Europeana resources,
Possibly test (face-to-face or online) the learning scenario created.
If you are a teacher, museum educator or any other CHI professional outside of the project:
Choose a Learning Scenario published on the Teaching with Europeana blog
Think of how you will implement it in your educational activity, either online or face-to-face, and run at least one educational activity using this Learning Scenario
Write a Story of Implementation or e-implementation about it, using the competition template
Choose the appropriate submission category, double-check the competition’s terms and conditions, go to the STEM Discovery Campaign page, and fill in the submission form selecting the Europeana competition.

Awards
The 20 winning teachers/museum educators of the Europeana User Group will be invited to a training workshop to be held in Brussels[1] during the summer, with flights and accommodation covered, while the 5 winners among non-user group members will be awarded a certificate.
All participants whose submissions comply with the Terms and Conditions of participation will receive a certificate of participation.
[1] The workshop in Brussels might be replaced by another activity due to the current Covid-19 Pandemic.
