  • How do I share a .MP4 file with my students in Canvas?

Resolution

  1. Ensure you have your .MP4 file you want to upload downloaded on your computer
    • For Zoom cloud recordings: Navigate to your Zoom recordings page, click More next to the recording you wish to download, and then click Download. Find the recording files on your computer wherever your downloads save.
    • For Zoom local recordings: Open the Zoom app on the computer you used to record it, click Meetings at the top, click Recordings in the upper left, find the recording in the list and click on it, and then click Open to show the location of the recording on your computer.
  2. Navigate to Media Gallery in your Canvas course

Note: Media Gallery is a MiVideo service integrated with your Canvas course. If you do not see it, navigate to Settings > Navigation in your Canvas course and enable it. Be sure to click Save.

  1. Click Add New
  2. Click Media Upload
  3. Upload the .MP4 file from step 1
  4. Complete the fields as desired and click Save

Note: Depending on your recording quality settings, videos can take up to 10-15 times the duration of the recording to appear in your course.

Recommended: Order captions once your video is done uploading. Caption files from Zoom cannot be uploaded to Media Gallery. The recommended process is to request new captions in Media Gallery.
