Email Privacy
If you don’t want to share your email address to join our newsletter, there are a few ways you can go about reading articles on The Intercept:
If you are considering becoming an anonymous source or whistleblower, don’t join our newsletter. Instead, read The Intercept anonymously using one of the options above. You can contact us securely and anonymously following these instructions.
If you choose to share your email address with us, we will regularly send you emails about our editorial coverage and ways to support our work. You can unsubscribe at any time.
While we don’t routinely associate your email address with the articles you read, there are exceptions – for example, we do record which article you were reading when you signed up or donated, or which links you clicked in an email newsletter. Therefore, if you need to maintain complete anonymity about your reading history, you should refrain from sharing your email address. (If you’ve already shared your email address with us, you should refrain from clicking on stories in our email newsletter.)
For more information about how we handle data about our readers, see our Privacy Philosophy.
