‘Amritsar’s Heritage Street in a shambles’

‘Amritsar’s Heritage Street in a shambles’
Amritsar: A pressure group, Amritsar Vikas Manch (AVM), has objected to the poor maintenance of the holy city’s Heritage Street near Golden Temple.
The previous SAD-BJP state government had developed the street. However, a team of AVM, comprising Kulwant Singh Ankhi, Manjit Singh Sini and Manmohan Singh, visited the street on Friday.
They said lights which had been installed to illuminate the platform of Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s statue had not been working for many months now.
“The artificial waterfall is also not working, and the colour of most statues has goen from white to light brown,” said Ankhi. “All this points to poor maintenance.”
The team also complained of beggars and stray dogs being a menace on the street. “It is embarrassing to see dogs mating in the area,” Ankhi added.
